THE OPPORTUNITY

Triad Electrical Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Working Foreman who can combine strong industrial electrical skills with hands-on field leadership and project ownership.

At Triad, a Working Foreman is more than a crew supervisor. Our foremen are responsible for understanding the complete scope of their assigned work, planning how it will be executed, coordinating labor and materials, communicating with customers and project management, and ensuring the project is completed safely, efficiently, and to Triad's quality standards.

Depending on the size of the project, a Working Foreman may lead a small crew while actively performing electrical work or may function at a superintendent level while coordinating multiple crews and project activities.

The ideal candidate has successfully taken industrial electrical projects or major scopes from startup through installation, testing, punch list, and closeout.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• FIELD INSTALLATION & PRODUCTIVITY
• Perform industrial electrical work alongside the crew, particularly on technically difficult or critical activities.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment.
• Work extensively with rigid conduit systems, including PVC-coated rigid conduit and aluminum rigid conduit.
• Install cable tray, conductors, controls, equipment, and power distribution systems.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, control schematics, and manufacturer instructions.
• Lay out electrical work and establish conduit routing, elevations, equipment locations, and installation methods.
• Assign daily work based on employee experience, project priorities, and available materials.
• Monitor crew productivity and adjust assignments to keep work progressing.
• Ensure installations meet plans, specifications, applicable codes, and Triad quality standards.
• Identify constructability issues and develop practical field solutions.
• Minimize rework, wasted labor, and unnecessary material use.
• PLANNING & COORDINATION
• Understand the complete project scope and develop an execution plan before work begins.
• Develop daily and weekly work plans in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Plan labor, tools, equipment, and materials several days in advance.
• Determine material requirements and ensure material is available when needed.
• Submit accurate and timely material requests.
• Assist with sourcing materials and coordinating deliveries when required.
• Verify required drawings, specifications, submittals, and revisions are available before work begins.
• Coordinate activities with general contractors, owners, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades.
• Attend project coordination meetings when required.
• Identify schedule conflicts, access restrictions, material issues, and other potential delays.
• Promptly notify the Project Manager when field conditions may affect cost, schedule, or scope.
• Plan and coordinate outages, shutdowns, energizations, testing, and other critical activities.
• Ensure the crew is working from current approved drawings and revisions.
• CREW LEADERSHIP
• Direct and supervise electricians, apprentices, and other assigned field employees.
• Clearly communicate daily expectations, assignments, safety requirements, and production goals.
• Match employees to assignments appropriate to their experience and capabilities.
• Work alongside the crew and demonstrate proper installation techniques when necessary.
• Train and mentor apprentices, electricians, and future field leaders.
• Maintain professional, respectful, and productive job-site expectations.
• Monitor employee performance, reliability, attendance, and conduct.
• Address routine performance issues promptly and professionally.
• Elevate significant personnel concerns to project management.
• Resolve routine crew conflicts and escalate serious issues when appropriate.
• Verify employee time and proper project or cost-code allocation when required.
• SAFETY LEADERSHIP
• Lead by example and enforce Triad, customer, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Conduct daily pre-task planning and job hazard analyses.
• Lead toolbox talks and communicate changing job-site hazards.
• Inspect work areas before and during the workday.
• Ensure employees properly use required PPE.
• Confirm employees are trained, qualified, and authorized for assigned work.
• Enforce lockout/tagout, energized-work, fall-protection, confined-space, and other applicable procedures.
• Inspect ladders, lifts, tools, cords, rigging, and equipment before use.
• Immediately stop unsafe work and correct hazardous conditions.
• Report injuries, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and material-storage locations.
• MATERIALS, TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
• Determine material requirements based on upcoming work.
• Submit material requests with sufficient lead time to prevent downtime.
• Receive and verify material deliveries.
• Protect company and customer materials from loss, theft, weather, and damage.
• Maintain organized gang boxes, storage areas, vehicles, and laydown areas.
• Maintain accountability for company tools and equipment.
• Ensure equipment is used properly and returned in acceptable condition.
• Report damaged, unsafe, or missing equipment promptly.
• Coordinate equipment rentals and timely equipment returns.
• Prevent duplicate purchases, unnecessary material usage, and avoidable waste.
• Maintain accountability for keys, badges, access cards, and customer property.
• QUALITY CONTROL & TESTING
• Regularly inspect completed work throughout the project rather than waiting until closeout.
• Ensure workmanship complies with applicable electrical codes, project documents, and Triad standards.
• Verify conductor identification, equipment labeling, terminations, torque requirements, grounding, and installation quality.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Maintain required test records and supporting documentation.
• Develop and complete punch lists promptly.
• Correct deficiencies before they affect subsequent work or project turnover.
• Protect completed installations from damage.
• Ensure concealed work is inspected and documented before being covered.
• CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION & DOCUMENTATION
• Serve as Triad's primary field representative on the assigned project.
• Maintain professional relationships with owners, customers, general contractors, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades.
• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding progress, manpower, materials, schedule, and field problems.
• Participate in customer and job-site coordination meetings when required.
• Prepare accurate daily reports documenting labor, completed work, delays, and significant project events.
• Maintain current drawings and record field changes and as-built information.
• Document differing site conditions, customer requests, and work outside the original scope.
• Obtain authorization before proceeding with extra work whenever practical.
• Provide supporting labor, material, equipment, and field information for change orders.
• Take progress photographs and maintain project documentation when needed.
• Promptly report customer concerns or conditions that could affect Triad's reputation.
• SCHEDULE & COST CONTROL
• Understand the project schedule, assigned budget, and production expectations.
• Monitor whether field production is progressing at the planned rate.
• Use labor efficiently and limit unnecessary overtime or crew downtime.
• Identify problems early when field conditions differ from the estimate or project plan.
• Track extra work separately from base contract work.
• Look for efficient installation methods without compromising safety or quality.
• Coordinate prerequisite work and inspections to prevent avoidable delays.
• Provide accurate estimates of remaining labor and expected completion dates.
• Assist management with short-term manpower planning.
• PROJECT STARTUP & CLOSEOUT
• Participate in preconstruction and project turnover meetings.
• Review project scope, drawings, specifications, schedule, budget assumptions, and customer expectations.
• Help establish site access, material storage, crew work areas, and project logistics.
• Confirm required permits, inspections, equipment, and safety documentation are available.
• Maintain accurate as-built information throughout the project.
• Complete punch-list work promptly.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, training, and owner turnover activities.
• Return unused materials, rented equipment, company tools, keys, badges, and customer property.
• Provide closeout documentation and information to the Project Manager.
• Leave assigned sites, vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and orderly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Extensive hands-on industrial electrical construction experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading electrical crews in the field.
• Strong experience with rigid conduit systems, industrial raceways, cable tray, power distribution, and industrial electrical installations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to plan electrical work before installation begins.
• Experience estimating material requirements and coordinating material needs.
• Experience managing project schedules, crew assignments, and field production.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, owners, inspectors, and project management.
• Ability to train and mentor apprentices and electricians.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Basic computer and technology skills, including email and common Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to travel to Triad project locations throughout Hampton Roads, Richmond, Chesterfield, Hopewell, and surrounding Virginia markets.
• Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in demanding industrial construction environments.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and professional conduct.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 7–10+ years of progressive industrial electrical construction experience.
• Previous Working Foreman, General Foreman, Lead Electrician, or Superintendent-level experience.
• Active Journeyman Electrician License.
• Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship or technical trade program.
• Experience managing projects or major scopes from startup through closeout.
• Experience with PVC-coated rigid conduit and aluminum rigid conduit.
• Experience on roadway, bridge, pump station, municipal, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or shipyard facility projects.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple field crews.
• Experience working directly with owners, general contractors, and project managers.
• Familiarity with electronic daily reporting systems.
• High School Diploma or GED.

WHAT MAKES THIS FOREMAN ROLE DIFFERENT

Triad's Working Foreman role requires more project ownership than many traditional commercial foreman positions.

A successful candidate should be able to explain projects where they personally:

On a smaller project, the Working Foreman may execute the job with only an apprentice or small crew from beginning to end.

On a larger project, the same individual may transition into a superintendent-level role overseeing multiple crews before sc
