Staff Accountant

Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, including preparing journal entries, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close processes. This role ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. He/she must possess the requisite skills necessary to ensure that Linwood’s standards for excellence are met or exceeded.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcesses accounts payable including online, ACH paymentsEnsures invoices are paid in a timely manner and that all documentation is verifiedPrepare and post journal entries to the general ledgerPerform month-end and year-end close activitiesReconcile various bank accounts as well as balance sheet accountsAssist with accruals and prepaid schedulesSupport fixed asset accounting and depreciationAnalyze account variances and investigate discrepanciesIdentify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracyPrepare financial reporting (monthly) and management reportingEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsMaintain confidentiality of Linwood’s financial dataPrepare agency annual budgets and special projectsMonitor and tracking budgets for all services programsMaintain supporting documentation for audit purposesSupport budgeting and variance analysis by program/departmentSupport internal and external audits and preparation of supporting schedules including Form 990.Ensure adherence to internal accounting policiesAssist with process improvement and automation initiativesScanning, filing and document retention and other duties as assignedSkills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to meet deadlinesStrong organizational skillsHigh level of integrity and confidentialityEffective communication skillsMinimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)Must possess a Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Business or four years of coursework in related subjects.Must have experience and/or demonstrate competence in all aspect of accounting matters.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required, including proficiency with advanced functions of Microsoft Excel.Experience with QuickBooks accounting software and Paycom payroll platform, or other comparable HRIS / Payroll System.Must also demonstrate analytical and organizational skills with superior attention to detail and an ability to set priorities.All EmployeesThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
