Sales & Service Representative

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. Job Purpose The Sales & Service Representative is responsible for delivering business-to-business customer service through the order process of pipe, valves, and fitting products (PVF). The role creates and/or enters quotes, processes customer orders, and resolves customer issues, while maximizing customer value and driving MRC Global’s strategies for safety, gross margin growth, and financial/operational performance. Key Duties & Responsibilities Respond to customer requests for quotes by sourcing products from inventory or purchasing externally. Build quotes that create value for the customer and profitability for MRC Global. Identify and actively pursue sales opportunities to contribute to overall sales growth. Proactively engage with customers, using product knowledge to recommend add‑on solutions that maximize customer delight and drive sales growth. Utilize MRC Global systems/software to create quotes, locate products/materials, process orders, create vendor purchase orders, and perform other customer‑related tasks. Adhere to customer contract requirements regarding pricing, freight, delivery schedules, and KPIs. Verify on‑time shipping/delivery status of pending inbound and outbound shipments. Communicate status proactively with customers and adjust product sourcing efforts as needed. Respond to customer needs and concerns with options using a problem‑solving approach. Validate that products requested in quotes are permitted per approved manufacturer lists or other customer specifications. Reference customer processing guides and tools to maintain familiarity with customer preferences and processes. Consult with managers, other MRC Global departments, and suppliers to create the best customer experience. Service orders involving externally sourced labor, return material authorizations (RMA), purchase order changes, and special invoicing needs. Communicate responsively and professionally with customers, suppliers, and coworkers to execute all main steps of the order process. Required Experience One (1) or more years’ experience in a dedicated customer‑facing role, inside sales, and/or warehouse services, OR recent completion of post‑secondary education in areas such as Technical/Trade School, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, preferably with studies in industrial or sales. A current, valid driver’s license and acceptable record at all times are required. Skills & Abilities Competent in the use of computers and software applications. Ability to communicate and promote ideas, transfer detailed knowledge to others, and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a sense of urgency. Working Conditions Frequent driving/traveling. Interaction with others occurs regularly. Most work is performed at a desk or in front of a computer. Ability to sit/stand for long periods is required.
