Job Summary:

Registered Nurses can independently plan and implement routine nursing care in predictable situations using standards and knowledge obtained during education and preceptorship. RN IIs begin to assume leadership responsibility and need minimal supervision. An RN II has the ability to use accurate, clear, and concise oral and written communication. RN IIs will work as a team and maintain effective working relationships, use critical thinking skills, analyze, and communicate findings effectively. Incumbents require a basic computer literacy and the ability to effectively learn new software programs is required, as well as the ability to efficiently operate a variety of automated office equipment such as print/copy/scan/fax machines/calculators/etc.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

RN I:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program. BSN preferred.
• License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS), Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) training within 90 days.
• Experience(s): New graduate RNs or RNs with less than one (1) year current acute care or comparable experience, or RN with no nursing experience in the past five (5) years. New graduates will remain at the RN I level for a minimum of six (6) months after the completion of their preceptee program and must promote to an RN II within 18 months of hire.

RN II:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program. BSN preferred.
• License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS), Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) training within 90 days.
• Experience(s): Advancement from an RN I or at least one (1) year, continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting. RNs must remain at this level for a minimum of one year before applying for advancement.

Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

Originally known as St. Ann’s Hospital, the hospital opened in 1886 and was operated by the Sisters of St. Ann until the 1960s. In 1965, the hospital’s operations were turned over to the City and Borough of Juneau, and a new facility was built at the hospital’s present location on Hospital Drive.

Bartlett Regional Hospital is licensed for a total of 57 inpatient beds and 16 residential substance-abuse treatment facility beds in the Rainforest Recovery Center. The hospital serves a 15,000-square-mile region in the northern part of Southeast Alaska. Approximately 55,000 people reside in our service area, with most communities inaccessible by road.
