Mechanical Drafter

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join a growing engineering team supporting the design and manufacturing of precision mechanical equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys transforming engineering concepts into accurate 3D models and production-ready drawings while working in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has experience with CAD software, enjoys solving design challenges, and takes pride in producing high-quality technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical components, tooling, and equipment.
• Convert legacy drawings into updated digital CAD models.
• Develop manufacturing drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, materials, and assembly details.
• Revise engineering drawings to reflect design improvements and production changes.
• Review engineering specifications and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Assist in troubleshooting design issues and implementing engineering solutions.
• Maintain organized electronic drawing files and engineering documentation.
• Support engineering projects, facility improvements, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 2-3 years of mechanical drafting or design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Inventor Vault or other engineering document management systems.
• Experience supporting tooling, fixtures, or automated manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements

• Primarily seated office and engineering work with occasional time spent in the manufacturing facility.
• Ability to frequently use a computer and CAD software throughout the workday.
• Occasionally lift or move materials up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the production floor.

Work Environment
This position combines office-based engineering work with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor. Candidates should be comfortable working around production equipment while collaborating with manufacturing personnel to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
