Job Description

Performing MIG welding on steel components, and supporting production through grinding, tack welding, and touch-up work. You will follow blueprints, ensure weld quality, maintain the accuracy of a Fanuc robotic welder, and repair any steel parts that do not meet standards. After a successful probation period, there is an opportunity to advance.

Responsibilities

• Reading blueprints to MIG weld and Fit.
• Operate a Fanuc robotic welder to perform MIG welding on steel and hot-rolled steel parts in a production environment.
• Set up, monitor, and adjust the robotic welding equipment to ensure accurate and consistent welds.
• Follow blueprints and welding prints to produce parts to specification and maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Perform tack welding, spot welding, and touch-up welding on parts that require additional work or repair.
• Inspect welded components for quality, identifying defects and correcting any steel parts that are not up to grade.
• Grind and finish welded parts as needed to meet quality and cosmetic requirements.
• Assist with metal fabrication tasks, including working with sheet metal, aluminum, carbon steel, and other steel materials as required.

Essential Skills

• Basic MIG welding skills on steel parts, including hot-rolled steel.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a Fanuc robotic welder in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding prints.
• Experience with tack welding, spot welding, and basic weld repair.
• Basic grinding and finishing skills for metal components.
• Understanding of welding processes such as MIG welding, TIG welding, flux core, and robotic welding, with a focus on MIG..

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical certification in welding, metal fabrication, or a related trade is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a shop, manufacturing, or metal fabrication environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with MIG welding, TIG welding, flux core welding, and spot welding processes.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled, indoor metal manufacturing facility consisting of two large buildings that house welding, machining, and assembly operations. The environment is typical of a busy production shop, with active welding, grinding, and fabrication work taking place throughout the day.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OLATHE, KS.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
