This position offers far more than daily maintenance responsibilities. Although on the Norman course, you'll gain experience managing a diverse 45-hole operation while developing the leadership, agronomic, and business skills necessary to become a successful Golf Course Superintendent. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well, enjoys solving problems, and is committed to continuous improvement. A passion for the game of golf is a strong plus. While not required, understanding the golfer's perspective often creates a deeper appreciation for the details that separate good golf courses from exceptional ones. About The Golf Club at Lansdowne Located in scenic Loudoun County, Virginia, The Golf Club at Lansdowne is a 45-hole private club connected to a luxury four-star resort and home to more than 700 members. Our facilities include: Robert Trent Jones II Course (1989) Greg Norman Championship Course (2004) Sharkbite – 9-hole short course (2008) The property presents an outstanding learning environment with Bentgrass, Poa annua, Zoysia, Bermuda, multiple irrigation systems, and the challenges of managing turf in the Mid-Atlantic transition zone. Why Lansdowne? As an Assistant Superintendent, you will work closely with the Director of Agronomy while gaining hands‑on experience in every aspect of golf course management. You won't simply be assigned daily tasks—you'll be involved in the decision‑making process and trusted with meaningful responsibility as your experience grows. Areas of Development Agronomic planning and program development Staff leadership, scheduling, and employee development Budget preparation and financial management Inventory management and purchasing Irrigation and water management Fertility and pesticide programs Tournament preparation and championship conditioning Capital improvement planning and execution Member relations and communication Daily problem solving and operational decision making Our goal is to help prepare you for the next step in your career while providing the mentorship and experience necessary to become a successful Golf Course Superintendent. Current & Upcoming Capital Projects The successful candidate will play an active role in several significant projects, including: Robert Trent Jones II full irrigation renovation (ongoing) Pond reconstruction project (Winter 2026) Norman Course drainage master plan implementation Property-wide tree audit and long-term management plan Infrastructure and golf course improvement projects These projects provide valuable experience in planning, budgeting, contractor coordination, construction oversight, and long‑term golf course improvement.
