Associate AttorneyQuilling, Selander, Lownds, Winslett & Moser seeks an Associate Attorney to join our Real Estate Litigation practice with a focus on title litigation and title curative matters. The Associate will represent lienholders and property owners in connection with title and lien disputes, resolve outstanding interests in property, investigate fraud in real estate transactions, represent title insurers in recoupment actions, and advise insurers on title coverage issues.Role and ResponsibilitiesPrepare correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements.Independently manage a litigation caseloadPrepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, including depositions.Attend mediations and otherwise negotiate settlements.Communicate with shareholders, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently.Examine title commitments, abstracts, and searches; identify defects, liens, easements, encroachments, and other encumbrances, and develop plans to cure them.Draft and review deeds, mortgages, easements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, and other conveyance and financing documents.Resolve title issues arising from foreclosures, tax sales, probate, bankruptcy, and chain-of-title gaps.Conduct legal research on real property, recording, and title-insurance questions and communicate findings clearly to clients and colleagues.Manage a portfolio of matters, maintain client communications, and meet deadlines.Qualifications and Education RequirementsJuris Doctor from an accredited law school.Active license in Texas, in good standing.2–4 years of experience in real estate, title, or property law (including relevant clerkships, title-company, or in-house experience).Working knowledge of title examination, real property principles, recording systems, and closing procedures.Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills, with close attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently.Preferred SkillsExperience with title insurance underwriting and title-agency operations.Experience with condemnation or eminent domain matters.BenefitsCompetitive compensation commensurate with experience.Speaking and writing opportunities to support professional development and marketing.Comprehensive benefits package.Payment of bar dues and approved professional expenses.HSA and FSA options.401(k) plan.Life insurance coverage.Long-term disability coverage.Year-end bonuses and referral incentives.Eight paid holidays and paid time off.
