A Day in the Life: You, Growth, and 125,000+ Learners
About OpenEd
What if your job could actually help change how families access education?
Our vision is a future where education isn't limited by geography, rigid models, or outdated systems. Our mission is to give every student access to customized, world-class education and resources while empowering families and opening millions of doors for learners across the country.
And we're looking for someone who wants to help us open a LOT more of them.
So... What Does Your Day Actually Look Like?
8:30 AM: You open your laptop.
Coffee? Obviously.
You check yesterday's numbers and notice that applications from one of our newest states are up 18%.
Great.
Then you notice conversion on one of the highest-traffic pages dropped 7%.
Less great.
You start digging.
9:15 AM: You're in a launch meeting for a new state.
Paid media wants creative.
Content has questions about state-specific messaging.
Partnerships thinks there might be a compliance wrinkle.
Someone asks, "Are we still on track for launch?"
You smile.
Yes. You are.
Because you already built the launch plan, assigned owners, set deadlines, and have approximately 47 tabs open keeping everything moving.
You are the quarterback.
10:30 AM: Time to get into the weeds.
You’re reviewing SEO performance and thinking about:
Which keywords actually drive enrollment—not just traffic
Which program and state pages need attention
Technical SEO issues
Structured data and schema
Metadata and heading structure
Internal linking
URL architecture
How pages are showing up in search and increasingly, AI-generated answers
You don't need to be the person writing every line of code.
But you do need to know enough to say, "That's going to hurt indexation," before it becomes a problem.
11:30 AM: You find a landing page with a 4.2% conversion rate.
Your reaction:
"We can do better."
So you pull the funnel data.
You look at traffic sources.
You look at drop-off points.
You formulate a hypothesis.
You build an A/B test.
Maybe the headline needs work.
Maybe the CTA is buried.
Maybe the page is asking families to do too much too soon.
You don't spend three weeks debating it.
You test it.
Because at OpenEd, we'd rather learn from an experiment than admire a PowerPoint about one.
12:30 PM: Lunch.
Probably while checking Slack.
We won't judge.
1:00 PM: Lifecycle marketing time.
You’re building and optimizing the journeys that turn:
"I'm curious about OpenEd" → "Tell me more" → "I'm interested" → "I'm applying" → "We're enrolled."
You’re working on nurture campaigns, re-engagement, TOFU/MOFU flows, segmentation, automation, and referral mechanics.
Because happy families aren't just the end of the funnel.
They can be the beginning of the next one.
2:00 PM: Your paid media agency sends the monthly performance report.
You open it.
You have questions.
Lots of questions.
You’re looking at paid search, paid social, creative, audiences, cost efficiency, qualified leads, and—most importantly—whether all that spending is actually helping more families enroll.
You're not managing the agency so you can forward reports around.
You're managing them because you own the outcome.
3:00 PM: Someone asks:
"How's the new state launch going?"
You don't answer, "Pretty well!"
You have the numbers.
Traffic.
Conversion by page.
Conversion by source.
Applications.
Lead-to-enrollment rates.
Referral activity.
Spend efficiency.
You know what's working.
You know what's not.
And you already have a recommendation for what to do next.
4:00 PM: Surprise!
Something changed.
A campaign isn't performing.
A launch timeline moved.
A landing page needs to ship.
A partner has a new opportunity.
Someone needs a decision.
You reprioritize.
You make the hard call.
You keep moving.
Because "we should probably..." isn't really your favorite phrase.
"I did." is.
5:00 PM: You look at your launch calendar.
Another state is coming.
You tweak the playbook based on what you learned today.
Because the goal isn't to launch one market successfully.
It's to build a repeatable growth engine that makes every launch faster, smarter, and more efficient than the last.
And then you shut your laptop.
Tomorrow, you'll do it again.
Probably with more coffee.
What You'll Own:
New State Launches
You'll quarterback new state launches from end to end, bringing together paid, SEO, lifecycle, content, brand, and partnerships into one coordinated GTM strategy.
You'll continuously improve the launch playbook and incorporate state-specific regulatory and market considerations into acquisition strategy.
SEO Strategy
You'll own SEO strategy and keyword priorities for the pages that actually drive enrollment.
You'll guide technical SEO recommendations across program and state pages, including schema, metadata, heading structure, internal linking, URL structure, and on-page conventions.
You'll also help shape page templates and layouts so our programs can be found—not just by Google, but by the increasingly important world of AI-powered search.
Website Conversion & CRO
You'll own conversion strategy for our highest-impact program pages.
You'll analyze funnels, run A/B tests, experiment with landing pages, and partner with the team to ship experiences that turn more visitors into applicants.
Lifecycle & Email
You'll own lifecycle marketing across nurture, re-engagement, TOFU, MOFU, and referral journeys.
You'll build segmented, automated experiences that help move families from first interaction to enrollment—and turn happy families into advocates.
️ Word of Mouth & Referral
Some of our strongest growth comes from families telling other families. Co-ops, Facebook groups, neighbors, the mom at the park.
It's one of our most important channels, and we don't want it to be an accident.
You'll own making it deliberate: building referral mechanics into lifecycle flows, working alongside our ambassador program.
It already works. Your job is to make it compound.
Paid Acquisition & Agency Management
You'll manage our paid media agency, establish growth targets, review performance, and push for better results.
You'll continuously test creative, audiences, and channels to increase awareness, qualified applications, and enrollment while improving efficiency.
Analytics & Reporting
You'll own state-level pipeline reporting and turn data into decisions.
You'll track traffic, conversion by page and source, lead-to-enrollment rates, paid performance, word-of-mouth, referrals, and other acquisition sources.
In other words:
You won't just report what happened. You'll tell us what we should do about it.
How We'll Know You're Winning
You'll help us:
Grow awareness and reach in target markets
Generate more qualified applications
Successfully launch new states
Improve website and funnel conversion
Increase lead-to-enrollment conversion
Improve marketing efficiency as markets mature
Build repeatable systems that make every launch better than the last
Who Are You?
You're someone who:
Has 5+ years of B2C/DTC growth or performance marketing experience acquiring consumers at scale (with B2C experience within the last 5 years)
Has managed multiple markets, regions, or campaigns simultaneously
Knows paid search and paid social and has a track record of generating qualified leads
Has managed agencies or external partners against performance goals
Understands SEO strategy and technical SEO fundamentals
Has hands-on CRO, A/B testing, and landing-page experience
Has built lifecycle and email programs using marketing automation tools
Loves analytics and knows how to turn numbers into action
Has Webflow experience (strongly preferred)
Is ridiculously organized—you set dates, own deadlines, and actually hit them
Can juggle multiple channels, campaigns, and launches without losing your mind
Is comfortable working independently and figuring things out
This Role Will Make You Very Happy If...
You are a builder.
You don't want to spend your day managing someone else's strategy.
You want to build the landing page.
Launch the campaign.
Write the brief.
Pull the data.
Spot the problem.
Run the test.
Fix the funnel.
And see what happens.
You like having an opinion—and you're perfectly comfortable changing it when the data proves you wrong.
You care deeply about helping families access better educational options.
You like moving fast without sacrificing quality.
And the idea of owning growth across an expanding portfolio of states sounds less like "a lot of work" and more like:
"Where do I sign?"
Our Culture: High Standards. Low Ego.
Culture at OpenEd is intentional. It's defined by what we promote—and what we tolerate.
Our latest eNPS of 77 places OpenEd in the top 0.1% of technology companies.
We don't put values on a wall and forget about them.
We actually use them.
Customer First
Be obsessed with creating value for learners and families.
Hard Choices, Easy Life
Address difficult things directly, quickly, and transparently.
I Did > We Should
Ideas are great. Execution is better.
Learn Out Loud
Share what you're learning. Give feedback. Leave your ego at the door.
Prioritize Ruthlessly
Do a few important things exceptionally well.
Fast AND World Class
Move quickly. Don't lower the bar.
Strong Opinions, Weakly Held
Make the case. Listen. Change your mind when the evidence says you should.
Make Others Famous
Make the people around you better—and make sure they get the credit.
The Team & Your Autonomy:
You'll join a team of five.
That's it. Five people covering growth, content, paid, lifecycle, referral, and the ambassador program across a 13-state footprint.
A lean, mean marketing machine.
Which means two things.
First, you'll have real ownership from day one. There's no layer between you and the work.
Second, you'll never be doing it alone. This is a team that genuinely collaborates. We share what's working, steal each other's good ideas, and make each other better. (See: Make Others Famous. )
You'll work closely with the Director, Growth Marketing on strategy and priorities, but this is not a "wait for permission" kind of role.
You'll have significant day-to-day autonomy to experiment, iterate, and ship based on data.
You'll personally stand up pages, campaigns, lifecycle flows, and launch programs while managing external agencies where they can extend your reach.
You own execution across a growing portfolio of states.
Translation: If you see something that needs to happen, we're looking for someone who makes it happen.
What We Offer:
