Business Systems Analyst

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Fortune 100 Telecommunications client is seeking a dynamic Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to join their team in a hybrid contract role based in St. Louis, MO. This position focuses on supporting and enhancing a mobile application used by field technicians, with a primary responsibility for defining and documenting requirements that enable seamless integration with a Salesforce-based workforce management platform. You will partner closely with business stakeholders, field operations, product, and technology teams to analyze and translate business processes into actionable system requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with field-operations workforce management systems, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams. Experience in telecommunications, utilities, or similar industries with large mobile workforces, as well as familiarity with platforms such as Salesforce Field Service, Oracle Field Service, or similar, is highly desirable.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Define and document business and system requirements for enhancements to a field-technician mobile application.
• Analyze and map field-operations workflows to interface with a Salesforce-based workforce management platform.
• Work with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand current processes, identify gaps, and translate business needs into actionable requirements and functional specifications.
• Support requirements related to technician scheduling, dispatch, geographic route optimization, appointment windows, and capacity planning.
• Analyze requirements involving mobile job execution, technician arrival, field activity, and downstream system interactions.
• Consider technician skills, qualifications, availability, and geographic factors when defining workforce-management functionality.
• Investigate ambiguous requests by asking questions, identifying dependencies, and clarifying the underlying business need before documenting requirements.
• Collaborate with developers, QA professionals, product teams, and other technical stakeholders throughout the requirements and delivery lifecycle.
• Communicate application functionality, business processes, requirements, and decisions clearly to both business and technical audiences.
• Develop deep subject matter expertise in the supported application and field-operations capabilities over time.
• Take ownership of assigned requirements and outcomes while proactively identifying issues, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Strong Business Systems Analyst experience with demonstrated requirements discovery and definition skills.
• Hands-on experience with one or more field-operations workforce management, scheduling, dispatch, or field-service management platforms (e.g., Salesforce Field Service, Oracle Field Service, ClickSoftware, ServiceNow Field Service Management, SAP Field Service Management, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service, IFS Field Service Management, ServicePower, Skedulo, or proprietary/in-house platforms).
• Experience translating field-operations business processes into system requirements and functional specifications.
• Understanding of technician scheduling, dispatch workflows, and geographic route optimization, including drive-time and location-based field operations.
• Experience with appointment-window management, capacity planning, and technician skill/qualification matching.
• Experience supporting mobile applications or technology used by field technicians.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially with incomplete or ambiguous requirements.
• Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify needs and drive requirements to resolution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex business and technical concepts clearly.
• Technical aptitude to collaborate with software developers, QA teams, architects, and integration teams.
• Experience working with APIs, system integrations, data flows, or application interfaces is a plus.
• Industry experience in telecommunications, cable, utilities, or similar field-service environments preferred.
• Ability to develop subject matter expertise and take ownership of an assigned application or functional area.
