Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) Nurse position located in Wausau, Wisconsin. The role involves supporting anesthesia providers in a busy cardiothoracic surgical environment, assisting with a variety of procedures including heart surgeries, traumas, elective, and general surgeries. The position requires flexibility, resilience, critical thinking, and excellent work ethic to ensure optimal patient care and operational efficiency.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, WI
• Shift Schedule: Rotating shift; 8-hour various day shifts
• Start Date: 07/27/2026
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN License or compact RN license; Associate Degree or Certificate; AHA or ARC BLS; ACLS; minimum of 3 years OR experience with anesthesia experience required; prior travel experience preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with conscious sedation, assisting during intubations, fiber optic scopes, central line placement, arterial lines, lumbar drains, Swan Ganz catheters, IV starts, lab draws, medication pump setup; strong OR/CVOR circulating experience; experience assisting with heart surgeries, traumas, elective, and general surgeries; familiarity with Epic and Belmont charting systems; knowledge of Level I equipment and procedures.
• Additional Information: The anesthesia RN will be critical in supporting cardiothoracic procedures and working closely with anesthesia providers in a high-volume OR setting. Candidates should demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, adaptability to change, and social engagement. A 2-week orientation with additional anesthesia skills training will be provided. Strict compliance with vaccination policies during flu season is mandatory.
