Position: Central Authorization Specialist I

Facility: BayCare Central Billing Office / Remote

This Central Authorization Specialist I opportunity is a full-time remote (following onsite training) position. The team member must reside in Florida. The role requires onsite training in Clearwater, FL for at least 3-4 weeks.

The central authorization Specialist I job duties include:

• Responsible for verifying health insurance information and obtaining authorizations, pre-certifications, and/or referrals for medical outpatient elective services
• Assist patients, clinical teams, physicians and their staff, the BayCare central business office, and denials management with information and process details for timely turnaround for authorizations
• Utilize electronic scheduling/registration/financial systems, payer's websites, and recorded calls to validate health coverage and benefits in processing approval for medical services
• Maintain proper documentation in Soarian or GE systems
• Work closely with Managed Care and understands health insurances rule sets, manuals, and contract language.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Experience

• 1 year of Insurance verification and authorization retrieval or referrals required
• 1 year of healthcare business office, managed care and/or health insurance website experience is preferred

Education:

• HS Graduate or Equivalent GED required
• Associate's Degree preferred

Location: Clearwater, FL


Status: Part Time

Shift Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Weekend Work: Occasional
