Purchasing Specialist
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Specialist to support procurement, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives across a dynamic production environment. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented supply chain professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day purchasing responsibilities with data analysis and process improvement efforts.
Job Description
- Execute purchase orders and manage supplier communications to ensure timely material delivery
- Proactively expedite orders and resolve supply chain issues impacting production
- Analyze historical usage, lead times, and demand trends to establish and maintain inventory targets
- Manage replenishment settings, reorder points, safety stock levels, and inventory optimization initiatives
- Identify opportunities to reduce inventory costs while maintaining material availability
- Partner with production and warehouse teams to improve material flow and replenishment processes
- Support implementation of lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor supplier performance and develop scorecards and performance metrics
- Assist with supplier negotiations, cost reduction projects, and alternative sourcing efforts
- Maintain ERP data integrity and support purchasing-related reporting activities

The Successful Applicant
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, materials, or inventory management experience within manufacturing
- Strong understanding of inventory control, forecasting, and material planning concepts
- Experience working with ERP systems and MRP-driven environments
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles is a plus
