Job Title: Production Supervisor 2nd Shift
Job Description
The Production Supervisor oversees all 2nd shift manufacturing operations, ensuring production goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency. This role coordinates with 1st shift leadership for smooth shift handovers, manages a team of production employees, and adjusts schedules and resources to meet changing business and customer demands.
Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise production activities on 2nd shift to achieve established KPI targets for output, quality, and efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with 1st shift leadership to ensure a smooth and accurate shift changeover, including status updates on orders, equipment, and staffing.
• Schedule products for production according to priority, order urgency, and available resources, ensuring on-time delivery commitments are met.
• Lead and supervise 2025 production employees, including machine operators, shipping and receiving staff, and visual inspection personnel.
• Ensure all shift production activities are documented accurately and consistently according to company standards and procedures.
• Make real-time production adjustments to address vacations, call-offs, changing order priorities, and other staffing or operational constraints.
• Maintain a strong business mindset when making decisions, focusing on what is best for overall operational performance and company goals.
• Act as a team player by supporting production needs across departments and assisting other areas as required to meet customer and business demands.
• Drive process improvement initiatives within the production area to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve quality.
• Monitor and manage production scheduling to optimize machine utilization and workforce allocation.
• Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to team members to promote safety, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborate with shipping and receiving, machining, and visual inspection departments to ensure smooth material and product flow.
• Support and enforce safety policies and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), especially in louder production areas.
• Participate in or lead shift-related meetings to review performance, address issues, and plan upcoming work.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in production supervision.
• Proven experience managing and documenting production KPIs, including tracking performance and implementing corrective actions.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead 20 or more direct reports in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong production management skills with the ability to balance quality, safety, and output requirements.
• Experience in production scheduling and coordinating multiple orders and priorities.
• Ability to make sound business decisions that support overall operational and company objectives.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively between shifts and across departments.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and support cross-functional production needs.
• Supervision experience in a high-volume, industrial manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supervising in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Automotive manufacturing experience, particularly in fastener or component production.
• process improvement within production operations.
• Familiarity with large industrial machinery such as cold forming, cold heading, and tapping machines.
• Understanding of shipping, receiving, machining, and visual inspection workflows in a manufacturing facility.

Work Environment
This role operates on 2nd shift with a typical start time around 3:00 p.m., working approximately 910 hour shifts Monday through Friday, following a rotation schedule. Occasional Saturday work can be expected about every 68 weeks, depending on workload. The environment is a heavier industrial manufacturing setting where maintenance and production activities can be greasy and dirty due to large cold forming, cold heading, and tapping machines used to manufacture large fasteners for the automotive industry. The company develops over 850 new parts per year, with products used in more than 40 million vehicles worldwide. The production area can be loud when fully operational, and hearing protection is required as part of standard PPE. In contrast, the shipping and receiving area is quieter and well organized. The facility spans approximately 350,000 square feet and includes production, shipping and receiving, machining, and visual inspection departments, with over 100 manufacturing floor employees working on site.

This is a Permanent position based out of Medina, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
