Solar Technician I - Long Draw Solar SiteWhat You Can Expect As a Solar Technician I, you will support the operation and maintenance of solar power facilities at the Long Draw Solar Site located in Gail, TX. You will assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining photovoltaic inverters, solar panel systems and related equipment. Your work will involve using digital tools such as SCADA, Maximo, and SAP to manage work orders, document activities, and ensure accurate reporting. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site. Any mileage in access will need manager approval.Your Daily Responsibilities Will Include, but Are Not Limited to:Complete permits to work, job safety plans (JSPs), lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures, and performing last minute risk assessmentsUnder the supervision of senior level technicians, perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on photovoltaic inverters, solar panels and tracking systems, and other related solar plant equipmentOperate standard hand tools and electrical testing equipment (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, battery powered drills/impacts, multimeters, amp clamps)Understand and execute ENGIE's official job specific documentation, such as LOTO procedures, work instructions, and routine maintenance checklistsCreate and close-out work orders generated in the Maximo systemConduct site safety orientations to original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) representatives, independent service provider's (ISP's), vendors, and site visitorsAccompany approved site visitors to ensure all individuals adhere to Engie's safety and quality standardsPerform LOTO and general supervision for non-ENGIE employees as neededMaintain accurate parts and tooling inventoryWhat You'll BringMinimum diploma or certification in a technical program where you have learned AC/DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment.Military equivalent experience or two (2) years experience in Solar generation sites, Wind generation sites in lieu of a degreeGeneral knowledge of AC/DC voltage, electrical theory, reading one-line and three-line schematics, and operation & maintenance of electrical equipment (e.g., AC/DC breakers, disconnects, MV transformers, NO/NC contactors, and relays)Understanding of selecting the proper PPE for electrical workProficiency in reading and understanding switching ordersObtain appropriate level of substation training and/or certifications within 12 months of hire dateAvailable for on-call duties as requiredA willingness to work night shifts and extended hours, often outdoors in extreme heat or coldReadiness to walk, stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periodsCapable of lifting up to 50 lbs.Additional DetailsThis is a field position requiring daily attendance at a worksiteMust possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plantWilling to travel domestically to support site operations at ENGIE's various renewable modalities as needed (e.g. Solar, Wind, BESS)Must be able to complete ENGIE's Qualified Electrical Worker Competency Skills test, which requires you to adequately demonstrate the application of safety critical tasks when working with AC/DC electricity (e.g. hot-cold-hot testing, proper PPE use, application of cluster grounds) within 12 months of hire dateMust be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policiesThe position consists of 30% work indoors and 70% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to extreme weather conditionsCompensation Hourly Range: $25.00 – 34.00 USD hourlyThis represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
