Job Summary Performs a variety of substantive legal work under the direction of the organization’s attorneys. Conducts legal research, drafts legal documents and performs other related duties which include "recognition, evaluation, and communication of relevant facts and legal concepts" as defined by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Drive consistent, effective and proactive compliance efforts by partnering with BU compliance teams and tailoring support based on each BU’s compliance maturity. Perform audit readiness activities directly when needed and serve as a trusted advisor through deep expertise in NERC Standards. Act as the single point of contact for ENRA compliance services on an assigned standard basis. Execute established compliance processes with minimal supervision and maintain accurate, up to date process documentation. Assist in ensuring compliance for Transmission Operations regarding the NERC reliability standards as applied by all Regional Reliability Organizations (RROs); collaborating with Transmission, Generation, Commercial Operations, and Corporate in compliance matters; interfacing with these business units in the standards development/review process. Develop standards, ensuring appropriate systems are in place to track and monitor compliance, perform daily tasks to monitor compliance, and perform quarterly/yearly reviews to demonstrate compliance. Works under minimal supervision. The position will serve as the lead attorney for all nuclear-related legal and regulatory issues within the utility’s generation portfolio. This role supports the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of AEP’s existing Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant and provides legal guidance for the licensing, permitting, and construction of new nuclear facilities, including small modular reactors (SMRs). The position requires deep expertise in nuclear regulatory law and a strong understanding of the operational and strategic priorities of a vertically integrated electric utility.
