Responsibilities: As a Venture Principal at Cota, you will play a key role in identifying and evaluating new investment opportunities, conducting commercial and financial due diligence on potential portfolio companies, negotiating and structuring deals and supporting the success of the companies in the portfolio. You will also be responsible for conducting research to formulate, refine and validate potential investment theses. You will work closely with senior members of the team and develop your career under their mentorship and guidance. In addition to playing a leadership role in deals, you can expect to gain operational experience, continue to build sector knowledge, work with talented entrepreneurs, other VCs, limited partners, industry executives, and other constituents in the venture ecosystem. Minimum skills and qualifications: Understanding of what separates a good business, team, and market opportunity from one that has the potential to generate venture-scale returns A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field 7+ years of experience with at least 3-5 years in venture capital, investment banking or private equity Strong financial analysis and valuation skills, including proficiency in financial modeling and understanding of and applying valuation techniques Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred skills and qualifications: An MBA or advanced degree in business, finance, or a related field Experience in an operating role in a technology firm A deep understanding of financial and operational models and the ability to analyze and evaluate new companies and investment opportunities A strong network of industry contacts and the ability to build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs and other stakeholders #J-18808-Ljbffr VC Stack
