Ready to make a real impact for animals, for people, and for your own career? Join our Boston Adoption Center team as a Full-Time Assistant Manager (40 hours/week, weekends required). Relocation assistance available for out of state applicants. Salary: $55,000–$70,000, depending on experience.

As our Assistant Manager, you'll help lead our Boston Adoption Center by supporting staff, inspiring volunteers, connecting with the community, and ensuring every animal receives the compassion and care they deserve. WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll work closely with our Shelter Manager and Director of Operations to:
- Guide and support an incredible team of staff and volunteers
- Ensure top-quality daily care for animals in our center
- Create positive, respectful experiences for adopters, surrenderers, and visitors
- Assist with training, scheduling, performance development, and team culture
- Provide euthanasia counseling while upholding the highest standard of respectful, compassionate care
- Model the kindness and professionalism that define the MSPCA

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
1 year of management or supervisory experience (non-profit preferred)
2 years in animal sheltering, veterinary services, or comparable human-services fields preferred
A compassionate, people-centered leader who believes deeply in helping animals and their families
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
A commitment to maintaining the positive, supportive culture we've built
Spanish proficiency is a plus!

WHO WE ARE
The MSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization in New England- caring for and placing over 12,000 animals annually across our four adoption centers and caring for over 14,000 animals in our community clinics. For our adoption centers, we aim to help the greatest number of animals by upholding an open adoption philosophy and moving pets through the shelter effectively while maintaining a commitment to socially conscious sheltering. For our community clinics we work to provide access to low cost veterinary care that helps keep families together with their pets. At our Boston Adoption Center, we care for over 2,000 animals each year with a 92% live release rate.

Experience
Required
1 year: Recent management/supervisory experience

Preferred
