Associate Medical Director – CenterWell Gastonia Become a part of our caring community. The Associate Medical Director role includes both direct patient care and administrative responsibilities. This position will be based at our CenterWell Gastonia office and the Associate Medical Director will report to the Chief Medical Officer for CenterWell's North Carolina market. As Associate Medical Director, you will spend 20-30% of your time clinically focused on direct patient care, with the remaining time dedicated to administrative duties related to oversight of clinical provision of care in the area. Requires a solid understanding of how organizational capabilities interrelate across multiple clinics and centers. Responsibilities Supervise/manage assigned clinicians designated to the market. Identify and resolve complex technical and operational problems within clinics and centers. Manage clinicians' PTO in collaboration with the Center administrator, including holiday schedules as determined by the organization. Manage CME time and reimbursement requests. Prepare service recovery reports (patient complaints). Guide individual clinicians about patient terminations in collaboration with compliance. Manage behavioral concerns pertaining to assigned clinicians. Provide support to on‑site clinicians with logjams and workflow issues. Oversee provider quality and develop workflows to close gaps in quality. Schedule at least one‑half day at the clinic site for on‑site visits per week. Support clinicians with schedule templates, coverage, and daily issues. Assist with panel management. Oversee the quality of assigned team members. Meet with Regional Clinical Administrators and other AMDs at least monthly. Assist on organizational committees as needed, representing the clinical perspective of the market. Assist in ongoing chart review monitoring. Assist with recruitment and interviewing as requested. Collaborate with the Regional Medical Director to complete performance reviews as required. Participate as backup on call. Assist in organizing team‑building activities. Maintain regular clinic hours for a percentage of FTE as determined with the Regional Medical Director. Serve as a community representative for CenterWell in media and press activities. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD or DO) with a current medical license, maintaining licensure requirements of the state of jurisdiction. Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine. Minimum five years of experience in outpatient practice, with clinical experience in primary care, senior health, and value‑based care (VBC). Minimum three years of experience successfully leading clinicians, demonstrating impact on clinician talent, culture, and performance, and effective partnership with operations and supporting teams. Skilled in clinical technology platforms and resources such as EMR systems (e.g., athenahealth, Epic, eClinicalWorks), voice documentation tools (e.g., Dragon, Abridge), and clinical evidence & pathway resources (e.g., UpToDate). Additional Requirements This role is patient‑facing and is part of CenterWell's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected, you will be required to be screened for TB. Candidates will also be required to adhere to Humana's flu vaccine policy. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Pay Range $310,000 - $368,500 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
