Ridgewood Elementary School is seeking a health aide for the 2026-2027 school year, to provide assistance to the school nurse in the delivery of student health services. State of Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is required. Salary - Placement on the EMEA Secretarial/Health Aide Salary Schedule (Starting salary $19.48/hr). Benefits as described on the EMSD Benefits Webpage. This position is part of the East Moline Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement and is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The work year for this position consists of all of the teacher attendance days. Paid holidays and breaks are outlined in the EMEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. *Please note that while the current job description refers to middle school, this position will be at an elementary school, grades K-5. Job Description

Title: Health Aide (Middle School)

Qualifications:

• Illinois State Licensed Practical Nurse (minimum)
• Experience working with adolescent-aged children
• Demonstrates computer skills using word processing and data base applications

Reports to: Building Principal and School Nurse at Glenview

Job Goal: Provide assistance to the Certified School Nurse in the delivery of health services.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Assist in planning the school health budget, recommending necessary materials and equipment
2. Inform school personnel about community health resources
3. Supervise policies and activities in compliance with the Illinois Department of Public Health's Recommended Procedures for the prevention of communicable diseases and the Illinois School Code
4. Make preliminary assessment of the health status of students according to needs and problems and make appropriate referral based on that assessment
5. Act as a liaison between school, student, parent, and physician regarding the student's health when under a physician's care
6. Keep families aware of the need for periodic health exams of students and provide for standardized recording of same
7. Conduct vision and hearing screening programs of those children suspected of having vision or hearing problems
8. Assist in making any educational adjustments needed for those with health problems
9. Act as a consultant and resource person to the staff related to the total health education program
10. Provide for the implementation of medically approved emergency care procedures
11. Assist in controlling communicable diseases by enforcing rules and regulations for student immunization, exclusion, and re-admittance
12. Continue to pursue educational studies to maintain and improve the professional level of performance
13. Uphold standards set by the nursing profession
14. Inform students and staff regarding health career opportunities
15. Perform other duties as determined by the District administration in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between District 37 and the EMEA

Terms of Employment: 180 duty days with wages and benefits provided in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between District 37 and the EMEA for instructional aides and learning center secretaries.

Performance of this position to be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
