Who is Youth For Christ?

Our vision was born out of a national movement to see young people reached by the message of Jesus. It started in the 1940s with rallies, campus evangelism, and student conferences. Today, with ministries in over 100 locations across the United States, and in other nations, our vision has remained: to see that every young person, in every people group, in every nation, can make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and become a part of a local church.

Our Mission: YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.

Our CIYFC Culture

At CIYFC, our commitment is clear: we exist so that young people ages 11–19 may come to know Jesus and make Him known. We pursue this by mobilizing Christian adults to go where young people are—whether in schools, neighborhoods, or juvenile facilities—and build authentic, Christ-sharing relationships.

The Opportunity

The Parent Life Lead is a position that requires spiritual and organizational leadership skills, the ability to work with and through other people, and strong communication skills. S/he must embrace and build a team that embodies YFC's Cultural Attributes: Christ-centered, enduring humility, relentless trust, courageous faithfulness, joyful camaraderie, and kingdom inspired diversity. S/he will seek to implement relational ministry actions to develop authentic Christ-sharing relationships with young people within the context of the Parent Life ministry model.

Activities + Responsibilities

Program Oversight and Development:

• Oversee Parent Life ministry sites, ensuring their effective operation and growth.
• Design and lead all programming with a holistic focus that includes: Spiritual and Moral Literacy (faithful bible teaching, character development), Educational Success (tutoring, mentoring, academic support), Financial Literacy, Civic Engagement, Basic Health and Safety

Youth Engagement:

• Implement YFC's Relational Ministry Actions (RMA) Framework to develop authentic Christ-sharing relationships with young people.
• You and your team engage directly with youth weekly using YFC's RMAs. 1:1 Appointments, Building Times, Club, Contacting, Small Groups

Direct Ministry with Volunteers:

• Recruit, train and empower teams of volunteers to carry out weekly ministry using the RMAs. Find, Win, Keep, and Lift volunteers to serve in relational ministry with youth. Provide consistent training, care, and leadership development to ensure volunteer engagement and retention. Meet bi-weekly with at least one current or potential volunteer. Ensure that all volunteers complete & comply with annual training requirements. Foster a healthy, missional culture among the volunteer team.

Community Relations:

• Develop and sustain a strong relationship with schools, churches and like-minded community partners to holistically impact young people where they live by enhancing program offerings and resources.
• Develop and sustain strong familial relationships by providing good communication and support to guardians and families of youth involved in programming.

Administration:

• Plan and prepare for ministry activities, meetings, events, etc.
• Attend weekly staff meetings, trip & event planning meetings, and weekly meetings with supervisor as scheduled.
• Complete weekly ministry reporting.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to—extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister/minister of the Gospel as defined below:

Associate Minister of the Gospel – A YFC Employee whose primary job function is performing religious duties, preaching and teaching the gospel, praying with and mentoring staff, volunteers and kids; who is not formally ordained, licensed or commissioned by a church or denomination.

Minister of the Gospel – A YFC employee whose primary job function is performing religious duties, preaching and teaching the gospel, praying with and mentoring staff, volunteers and kids…who has been formally ordained licensed or commissioned by YFC, a church or a denomination.

Ministerial Exemption: Ministers are exempt from FLSA regulations and FLSA's Overtime provisions. If the work concerns spiritual /pastoral functions, then the minister is not covered by FLSA and its minimum wage or overtime requirements. As a religious worker, you are not covered by FLSA and therefore not entitled to overtime or minimum wage.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister/minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

• Seek God's guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
• Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
• Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
• Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

• You have a passion for 11-19 year olds to become life-long followers of Jesus. You are able to both engage in and model how to start, grow and deepen authentic Christ-sharing relationships with teens.
• You are an authentic relationship builder, engaging communicator and mobilizer. You bring 7+ years of proven experience in volunteer mobilization and team leadership, and an ability to work cross-culturally and build inclusive ministry environments and partnerships.
• You are driven and disciplined to work through challenges. Your passion and grit equip you to make God-sized asks without being afraid to hear "no". You see a "no" as an opportunity to strategically craft a new way to reach the goal.
• You thrive when working alone or in teams. You are a self-starter and self-motivated to be proactive, ask questions and chart your own path forward while brainstorming with and/or sharing your learnings with your teams.
