Project Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to lead capital projects from concept through execution in a high-speed manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, partnering with stakeholders across operations, engineering, maintenance, safety, quality, and supply chain, and driving process improvements that enhance throughput, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead capital and process improvement projects from initial assessment, scope development, and justification through execution and commissioning.

• Manage projects typically ranging from $1M-$5M+, including equipment upgrades, facility improvements, infrastructure projects, and line optimization initiatives.

• Drive alignment with directors, plant leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.

• Support equipment selection, installation, and startup activities for packaging and filling technologies, including case packers, cappers, palletizers, and related processing equipment.

• Conduct manufacturing assessments focused on throughput improvements, operational efficiency, air and dust handling, safety enhancements, and facility expansion projects.

• Manage project budgets, schedules, vendor relationships, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and capital expenditure tracking.

• Utilize data analysis and project management tools to measure project performance, validate results, and ensure KPI achievement.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives through statistical analysis and process optimization.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.

• 5+ years of project engineering experience in a CPG manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated experience leading capital projects from cradle to grave, including front-end engineering, scope development, vendor management, installation, startup, and project closeout.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, packaging/filling technologies, and facility operations.

• Experience managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

• Familiarity with Stage-Gate project methodology and capital project governance.

• Proficiency with CAD, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP.

• Strong technical troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
