Catering Assistant
Army Navy Country Club is a prestigious private, member-owned institution with a history dating back to 1924. Spanning 488 acres across two campuses located in Arlington and Fairfax, Virginia. The Club provides employees with opportunities to contribute to essential operations.
Typical Schedule – Tuesday–Saturday, 10am-6pm - will work later on nights of special functions. Must also be flexible & willing to work Nights; Holidays; Weekends; Mondays.
This position is responsible for the successful administration of Catering events, handling administrative duties, and assistance to the Catering Manager and Club Event Manager.
Works alongside the Catering Manager & Club Event Manager helping members and non-members create event orders for all types of events (including, but not limited to meetings, luncheons, dinners, holiday parties, funeral receptions)
Takes phone calls, emails and meetings with members and non-members to assist in planning events
Works in Jonas to review weekly BEO packets, print, and distribute to the team
Handles printing Private Dining menus for Arlington Room events
Handles the check in process with the Club Events Manager for Club sponsored events (including, but not limited to: Family Bingo, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Family Christmas Dinner, Santa Brunch, New Year's Eve, Rooftop Series, Wine Dinners, Pub Nights, etc.)
Delivers all deposit and payment checks to the Admin Office once they have been processed (daily)
Administration work when the following items are needed which includes, but is not limited to: filing contracts, meal cards, menu cards, check in sheets, diagrams, etc.
Handles Post Event feedback questionnaires
Maintains Admin Meeting Room calendar/schedule in Jonas
Keeps an organized and clean workspace
Assists in booking vendors (flowers, music & entertainment, etc.) for all Club sponsored events
Works weddings from set up through dinner service
Discusses event strategy with appropriate Department Heads as outlined by the BEO's and Catering Contracts
Participate in weekly departmental meetings summarizing future events and their details
Identifies and satisfies the guest's needs in a profitable manner
Conducts event space tours with the members or non-members prior to booking an event as required and follows up with the Catering Manager
Assists in creating and updating catering, private dining and wedding packets
Is conversant with all liquor, fire and safety regulations as they apply to the operation of the clubhouse
Has a thorough knowledge of set up, layouts and maximum room configurations for a variety of banquet activities including, but not limited to meetings, weddings and receptions
Assists the Banquet & Food and Beverage department personnel as required
Communicate with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and Sous Chef in a timely and effective manner regarding future and same day events to ensure ultimate satisfaction for our guests
Knows how to work the Clubhouse event monitors

Basic understanding and knowledge of the catering industry
Knowledge of all menu items including food, wine, spirits, and beer

Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, specifically publisher
Exceptional verbal & written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Jonas and Social Tables knowledge is a plus
Ability to handle guest and interdepartmental inquiries in a quick, concise, and polite manner
Ability to fulfill deadlines under any circumstances
