Job Overview At Eye Care for Animals, a Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner, the Practice Leader (PL) is critical to the success of the hospital. The role is 70% Veterinary Technician and 30% Practice Leader, acting as the “Integrator” on the hospital’s accountability chart and participating in leadership meetings. The PL oversees business activities, including hiring, training, budgeting, performance monitoring, inventory control, and safety/security procedures. Holds regular staff meetings with mandatory training on service and care standards. Promotes a cooperative, teamwork-oriented environment. Enthusiastically performs duties required to keep the hospital functioning as a unit. Promotes continuous quality improvement (CQI) to ensure practice success. Qualifications 5+ years veterinary technician experience. CVT licensure required. Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, SQ injections. Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and supported equipment. Team player with strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to analyze data to set priorities and initiate operational programs. Sound judgment in decision‑making. Capable of leading, managing, and coaching staff at all levels, including hiring and firing. Empathy toward clients and compassion toward animals. Commitment to outstanding client service. Competence in budgeting and financial reporting, including reading and analyzing P&L statements. Solid math and Excel/spreadsheet skills. Three years supervisory experience; preferred three years managing a veterinary practice. Physical ability to lift 40 lb without assistance and >40 lb with assistance.
