Laborer

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Laborer who performs tasks involving physical labor at underground utility construction projects, operating a variety of hand and power tools, and assisting in various construction‑related tasks. The Construction Laborer will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina and the position is non‑exempt. Responsibilities Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in underground utility construction projects; performs manual work in preparing the site for the contracted scope of work. Shovels dirt, concrete, asphalt, and various other construction materials into construction areas. Excavates and fills trenches and ditches. Maintains a clean job site: picks up and delivers all tools and equipment and secures the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Performs materials handling and storage. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director, or supervisor. Assist pipe layer, equipment operator, and foreman as needed. Traffic control flagging as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures. Must have physical strength and endurance. Ability to lift heavy materials. Comfort working in a high‑stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations. Education and Experience Education: High school diploma/GED preferred. Experience: 2+ years construction industry experience preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
