AI Risk Specialist (Technology Risk)

Leading global asset manager seeking an experienced AI Risk Specialist to join its risk function and provide independent oversight of AI, data, and model-related risks across the organisation. This is an opportunity to shape AI governance practices within a highly regulated, global environment as AI capabilities continue to expand across the business. Role to be based in New York , with the possibility of working from Los Angeles. 4 days per week in office. Key Responsibilities Support the ongoing development and maturity of the firm's AI governance and risk management framework. Independently evaluate AI-related controls, governance arrangements, and risk management practices against regulatory expectations and recognised industry standards. Provide effective challenge on AI risk assessments, remediation activities, policies, and control effectiveness. Produce insightful reporting and risk analysis for senior management and governance committees. Work closely with technology, security, legal, compliance, and business teams to promote robust AI risk management practices. Monitor developments in the AI landscape and recommend enhancements to governance, oversight, and control environments. Drive the adoption of data-led and innovative approaches to risk identification and monitoring. Skills & Experience Demonstrable experience in AI risk, technology risk, model risk, cyber risk, or a related risk management discipline. Strong understanding of AI and machine learning technologies, Responsible AI principles, and AI governance concepts. Experience developing, implementing, or enhancing AI risk management frameworks is highly desirable. Knowledge of recognised AI governance standards and frameworks, including NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, or equivalent. Experience evaluating risks associated with model performance, fairness, explainability, data governance, third-party AI solutions, and AI security threats. Familiarity with agentic AI architectures and emerging AI technologies. Understanding of financial services regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions; asset management experience is advantageous. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or similar are preferred. Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desirable. #J-18808-Ljbffr Bruin
