Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 per hour + tips

About the Role

Erma's Bistro in downtown Syracuse is hiring one part-time Bartender/Server for brunch and daytime service. This is a dual role — some shifts you're behind the bar, others you're on the floor with a section. We're looking for someone comfortable doing both well.

What You'll Do

Behind the bar:

• Prepare and serve brunch cocktails, mimosas, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages to standard
• Set up, stock, and maintain the bar; complete opening and closing duties
• Serve bar guests directly — take food and drink orders, run tabs, close checks
• Verify IDs and serve alcohol responsibly

On the floor:

• Greet guests, present menus, and guide them through food and beverage selections
• Take accurate orders and enter them into the POS system
• Deliver food and drinks promptly and check back throughout the meal
• Know the menu and answer guest questions confidently, including allergy and dietary questions
• Process payments accurately and close checks
• Set, clear, and reset tables; maintain a clean dining room and service stations
• Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to keep service moving

What We're Looking For

• Experience bartending, serving, or both — comfortable switching between the two
• Mixology basics and familiarity with brunch cocktail service
• Strong guest service skills and a professional, friendly presence
• Ability to manage multiple tables and stay composed during a rush
• Accurate order taking and comfort with a POS system
• Flexible availability — shift times vary week to week
• Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol in New York State
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods and carry trays up to 30 lbs

Schedule

Part-time. Shifts vary from week to week but Saturday and Sunday availability are required.

• Day shift: 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Evening shift: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Compensation

$11.00 per hour plus tips.
