Medical Assistant

Nursing Position at White-Wilson Medical CenterPerforms nursing functions for physician/extender. Supports the Objectives and Philosophy of White-Wilson Medical Center.Essential Responsibilities:Prepares equipment and aids provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients including patient screening, histories, and vital signs.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards.Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.May perform point of care testing and resulting.May perform venipuncture, ensuring accurate and safe collection of blood samples.Performs patient outreach for value-based initiatives and patient optimization programs.Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Assists in maintaining timely flow of patients.Coordinates and schedules procedures at hospitals or surgery centers and handles any prior authorizations that may be necessary.Initiates patient referrals and coordinates with staff if a patient has barriers with the outside referral.Provides patient education regarding procedures.Calls patients with necessary results.Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.Refills prescriptions and handles any medication authorizations for patients.Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
