Job Description
Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position is part of a 15-bed telemetry unit, specializing in post-surgical care for a variety of medical disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a telemetry setting, focusing on post-surgical patients.
• Monitor and titrate medications including Heparin, Nitro, Cardizem, and Insulin.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Respond to patient needs promptly and effectively, ensuring safety at all times.
• Assist in educating patients and their families regarding their health conditions and care plans.
• Utilize telemetry monitoring equipment to track patient status with support from remote technicians.
• Rotate assignments among various adult medical/surgical nursing units as needed.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Schedule

This role requires 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend and holiday commitments. The RN will work a combination of shifts from 0700-1930, 1100-2330, and 2300-0700, with nursing assistants available during daytime hours to assist with patient care.

Unit Overview

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night.
• Common patient diagnoses include orthopedic, urology, GYN/ONC, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, and GI cases.
• Telemetry system employed is GE, with remote technician support for monitoring cardiac strips.
• Respiratory therapy support is available; however, there are no ventilator patients on the unit.

Additional Information

A comprehensive orientation program will be provided, including one day of computer training and up to two days of precepted floor orientation based on the nurse's skills and experience. Scrubs in any color are acceptable as long as they are clean and professional.
