Learning and Development Coordinator

Job Title: Coordinator, Workforce Development, Work-Based Learning Team Office: Office of Social Emotional Academic Development TheOfficeofSocial Emotional Academic Developmentworks with the Chancellor to ensure coherence in the educational experience for our students, families, and schools. Our goal is to initiate change and lead DC Public Schools into the highest performing school district in the nation. Office of SEAD Strategy Athletics: The Department of Athletics ensures all DCPS students have access to comprehensive and inclusive interscholastic athletics programming designed to increase student satisfaction, improve physical fitness, keep students engaged in school, develop leadership qualities, and provideadditionaloutlets for students to express their unique talents. Career and Technical Education: Career Education programs provide the academic, technical, and employability skills necessary to succeed in college, careers and to become lifelong learners.This includes JROTC programming. Postsecondary Success Programs(PSP): PSPincludes programming that prepares students for collegeand career, including Dual Enrollment,AP/IB, SAT/PSAT, School Counseling and Postsecondary Planning, Work-based Learning Opportunities, and Navigator supports. Graduation SuccessInitiatives (GSI): GSIconsists of programming designed to keep students on track academically and connected to their school communities.This includeswork on AdjustedCohortGraduationRate, New Heightsprograms, OSTP, and Extended Learning programs such as summer school and academic recovery. Grade Level Academies: Sixth and Ninth Grade Academies in DCPS provide rich, responsive, and well-rounded educational experiences for students duringkeytransitionyears to promote success. Scheduling, Transcripts,andAcademic RecordsSupport(STARS): STARSis responsible forsupporting and monitoring DCPS schools in four areas: scheduling, grading, graduation, and the development and distribution ofaccuratestudentrecords. Data, Strategy, and Operations(DSO): DSO supports the division through the management of budgets, data reporting and analysis, and special projects that support the division’s key priorities in alignment with the strategic planincluding policies and associated guidance. The Coordinator, Workforce Development,Work-Based LearningTeam,is responsible forcoordinating, implementing, andmonitoringhigh-quality work-based learning (WBL) experiences for DCPS high school students. TheCoordinatorispart of a team charged with driving the strategic work thatcontinues to push theDistricttoward our goal of preparingall ofour students with disabilities inPre‑K-through grade 12 forpostsecondary success. TheCoordinatorwill play an integral role in the implementation of college and career readinessopportunities for students with disabilities in DC Public Schools, through theday-to-daycoordination of Transitionand Work-Based Learningprograms. This position has been designated as Protection Sensitive. Pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. The Coordinator, Workforce Development, Work-Based Learning Team will report to the Manager, Work-Based Learning Opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Implement recruitment processes toidentifyand enroll eligible student candidatesfor work-based learning and transition opportunities. Collaborate with school teamsacross all wards tofacilitatethe outreach and application process for qualified and interested candidates. Coordinate logistical aspects of programming, including bothanticipatedneeds and contingencies, to ensure smooth andefficient operations. Improve community-based outreach and engagement efforts to recruit, onboard, and train mentorsand employer partnersfrom variousindustries. Collaborate with businesses and government agencies toestablishlong-term mentorship and internship opportunitiesfor students in theDCPSCompetitive Employment Opportunities (CEO) programand internship experiencesled by partner programs and agencies. Review situational job sampling opportunities and activities to ensure alignment with each student’s transition goals. Engage in regular collaboration with students’ IEP teams to ensure alignment between transition goals and serviceprovision. Refine and deliver engaging lesson plans focused on workplace readiness, social skills, and independent living. Implement student-centeredsupportsto improveprofessionalskill development, and workplace readiness. Provide scaffoldedsupport and implement curricular modifications as needed. Implement regular family outreach through multiple modalities for students selected for the program, including homevisits and individualized outreach. Liaise with students and their families on opportunities for enrollment in comprehensive transition or postsecondaryeducational programs at institutions of higher education. Track students' progress in work-based learning experiences, including placement and participation data. Coordinate data collection efforts for programs, using data to inform instructional and programmatic decisions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two to four years of related work experience. Master's degree preferred. Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus. Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
