BAS Programmer

Location: Remote

Compensation: $115000 - 135,000

Do you love digging into complex sequences of operations and turning them into clean, functional code? Are you the kind of controls professional who takes ownership of a program from database build to functional test script, and takes pride in getting it right?

One of our clients is a specialty BAS and HVAC controls firm operating under a larger corporate umbrella, and they are expanding their office-based programming team. This is a non-field, remote role where you will hone your craft on commercial building automation projects across a range of platforms and protocols, supported by a collaborative team of engineers, project managers, and field technicians. They offer a strong compensation package in the $150K-$170K range, a culture built around technical excellence, and a clear path to deepen your expertise and grow your career within a well-resourced organization.

What You Will Do:

Bring BAS projects to life by building databases, programming, and custom graphics using platforms like Niagara/Tridium, Automated Logic, and Johnson Controls.

Turn the design into a working system , translating sequences and hardware designs into functional software and testing scripts for the field team.

Help get everything talking with remote point-to-point commissioning and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN communication issues.

Connect different systems under one roof by integrating third-party equipment using BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and other industry protocols.

Keep projects moving by working closely with PMs, Engineers, and field teams to solve problems and stay on track.

Make sure it all works as intended through design reviews, commissioning meetings, and peer reviews that validate system performance.

What We Are Looking For:

 

2 to 5 years of BAS programming experience or an associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field. Experience with commercial building automation, HVAC controls, or a related environment is ideal.

Hands-on knowledge of BAS protocols and platforms , including BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and Niagara Framework. You should be comfortable working within these systems rather than simply having been exposed to them.

Ability to read and work from sequences of operation , understanding the intended control strategy and translating design and contract requirements into functional programming.

Experience integrating third-party systems across different BAS platforms, manufacturers, and equipment. You should be comfortable figuring out how different systems need to communicate and troubleshooting when they don't.

A strong technical problem-solving mindset with the ability to dig into an issue, think critically, and find a path forward when something isn't working as expected.

Ability to take ownership of your work while staying organized across multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. You'll have support from the broader project team, but should be comfortable managing your own deliverables.
