Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse in Wheeling, West Virginia. This role involves providing specialized care to patients with intermediate medical needs, managing complex cases such as chest pain, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a dedicated healthcare team.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with shifts starting at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Self-scheduling is permitted, provided staffing needs are met. Staff may request up to 4 days off per month.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in ACLS and BLS; NIHSS certification; minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a step-down or telemetry unit; familiarity with EPIC charting system; ability to interpret telemetry strips and titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, and Heparin.
• Floats: Staff may be required to float into Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units with ratios potentially up to 1:6 or 1:7 in MedSurg.
• Additional Information: The unit has a patient census accommodating 30 beds, including 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms. The team operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio around 1:4 to 1:6, depending on staffing. Equipment includes Nihon Kohden telemetry monitors, high-flow respiratory devices, and Bipap ventilators managed by respiratory therapy. There are in-house hospitalists, intensivists, IV team, pharmacy, and RT available 24/7. Orientation includes a two-day on-boarding process with a preceptor.
