TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full‑time Location: Hybrid, Boston, MA Pay: $79,000–$113,000 yearly Team: Market Insights & Client Strategy team within the Strategy and Insights Group (SAIG), working under the direction of team members. Mission: This person will support the team in sourcing data and assisting in the analysis of capital market and economic themes to develop MFS’s insights and thought leadership for clients. Tech Stack: Excel What You’ll Actually Do Research Program Development: Work on a research program spanning all aspects and asset classes in capital markets, partnering to continuously develop collateral, track economic and political forces, and generate ongoing commentary and perspectives. Data and Presentation Creation: Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive databases and presentations related to capital markets, including project‑based work, compilation of existing data, research and analysis of new data, and presentation development. Project Execution and Analysis: Coordinate closely on specific projects, collecting and analyzing data to support various market and macro‑oriented initiatives, and performing additional duties as requested by other SAIG team members. Client Project Support: Work with senior leaders within the Market Insights & Client Strategy team and with distribution colleagues on ad‑hoc client projects across different client segments and channels. The Must‑Haves Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience: 0–2+ years of previous financial services or analytical experience is a plus, but not required. Previous investment research or analysis is also a plus. Skills: Demonstrated ability to learn quantitative tools and techniques and perform quantitative analysis; critical thinking skills to distill complex topics into simple and applicable messages; an interest in technical subject matter related to all asset classes and global capital markets; good Excel skills, including the ability to design and develop investment models using macros and complex data analysis functions; and the ability to efficiently create presentations, spreadsheets, and discussion guides.
