Manager of Technical Solutions (HYBRID)

Piper Companies is seeking a Manager of Technical Solutions to join a life insurance company, through hybrid work in Frederick, MD . This role combines hands‑on technical leadership with people management, owning the successful delivery of backend-heavy digital platforms while aligning engineering execution to business transformation goals. Responsibilities Lead a backend‑focused engineering team delivering scalable digital platforms using .NET, Java, microservices, and cloud technologies, ensuring high quality and on‑time delivery. Own agile execution and engineering excellence, including sprint delivery, technical design oversight, and proactive management of technical debt. Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technology strategy with enterprise transformation and business objectives. Qualifications 5+ years of experience leading software engineering initiatives, including platform modernization, cloud‑based systems, and microservices architectures. 2+ years of people management experience, mentoring and developing engineering teams in agile environments. Strong backend engineering background with .NET and Java (Angular experience is a plus). Proven ability to align technology delivery with business goals in regulated or enterprise environments. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience required; Master’s degree preferred. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Compensation Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience) + 20% annual bonus potential.
