Database AdministratorLocation: Tallahassee, FL 32301 (ONSITE)Duration: 10 months contract (with possible extension)Interview Type: In Person OnlyJob DescriptionScope of ServicesThe DBA team is responsible for ensuring the application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet the department standards for data requirements. The candidate in this position will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, amendments and optimization of the schema to meet system(s) requirements. The candidate must be able to understand and demonstrate the ability to develop database and warehousing design across multiple platforms and computing environments. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team to assist in developing an overall data architecture that supports the Client’s needs and meets Client and Agency security standards.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.ExperienceThe candidate must have skill and five (5) years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms:Expert in SQL Server 2012, and aboveOracle 10g and aboveExperience with Azure SQL is a plusExperience with AWS SQL tools is a plusExperience with managing ArcGIS for Server is a plusExperience with GIS and spatial databasesPrimary Job Duties/TasksThis resource will primarily be tasked with performing Database (SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities including, but not limited to the following:Daily operational and database administration activitiesPlan, design, implement, support for database structuresConduct database performance monitoring and tuningDevelop and maintain database administration procedures and documentationPerform SQL Code reviewsAssist with training/mentoring other technical staffSupport database activities for application enhancements and rewrites.Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)The submitted candidate must be able to apply common knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of relational database management systemsAbility to work independently in the technical analysis, evaluation and resolution of large Enterprise database production issues or problems, with little or no assistance, and to make decisions and recommendations to remediate those issues or problemsKnowledge of Relational Database Management principles, design and practicesKnowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of ESRI SDE GeodatabasesAbility to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments for him/herself or lower level database analystsSkill in accurately estimating time requirements for database analysis and administration tasks for a projectSkill in customer serviceAbility to work effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, to build efficient, long term solutions in the development of databases utilizing all established departmental standardsAnalyzing processes and workflows to design efficient database solutionsAbility to prepare complex database specificationsAbility to design relational databasesSkill in interpreting and communicating technical information related to computer programming and data processing, both verbally and in writingAbility to develop and manage relational databases in accordance with the Department’s standards
