Credit Underwriter II - Portfolio Management/Commercial Real Estate Banking

Job Overview The Credit Underwriter II is responsible for the ongoing management and primary accountability for all monitoring and maintenance activities for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate loans, primarily consisting of larger/complex client relationships. They monitor operating performance and financial conditions of existing commercial real estate facilities to proactively identify issues and opportunities. Deliver financial, industry, economic and other analysis to facilitate decision making and inform risk rating recommendations, while ensuring adherence to credit policies, guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements. Provide underwriting analysis and approval recommendations for borrower requests related to assigned client base/facilities. Demonstrate strong judgement, sound credit skills and actively participate with the Credit Team in the credit approval process for complex clients/transactions. Responsibilities Lead the credit analysis process with support of other analysts and associates Partner with Credit Officers, Relationship Management, and Risk teammates to understand structuring needs and requirements Monitor operating performance and financial condition, proactively identifying issues and opportunities Assist in delivery of financial modeling, loan structure, industry, economic, and other analyses to team members to support loan decision-making Review work of junior teammates to provide feedback/coaching and ensure compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policy procedure May have primary coverage responsibility for a portfolio of clients with credit approval for certain credit actions Participate in loan structure conversations and completion of loan documentation with internal/external legal partners Execute post‑close credit activities, including documenting conditions, administering approved extensions, and coordinating related legal documentation Perform comprehensive portfolio monitoring and maintenance activities, including covenant compliance, construction and collateral reviews, financial and guarantor analysis, and ongoing risk assessment Contribute to process improvement and simplification initiatives to enhance portfolio oversight, credit execution, and operational efficiency Required Qualifications 5+ years commercial credit financial analysis and portfolio management experience 5+ years of financial accounting, financial modeling or loan structuring Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or similar Credit and risk assessment skills, attention to detail Strong written communication and analytical thinking Collaboration and prioritization abilities Loan structuring, collateral management, financial forecasting and modeling skills Desired Qualifications Commercial Credit Training Certificate from accredited real estate educational program Large money center bank experience CRE portfolio management experience Skills Attention to Detail Credit and Risk Assessment Financial Analysis Underwriting Written Communications Analytical Thinking Credit Documentation Requirements Financial Forecasting and Modeling Recording/Organizing Information Business Acumen Collaboration Collateral Management Loan Structuring Prioritization Portfolio Management Shift & Hours Shift: 1st shift (United States of America) Hours per week: 40 Location Newport Beach, CA – 520 Newport Center Dr. (USA – CA) and Chicago, IL – 110 N Wacker Dr. (USA – IL) Pay & Benefits Annualized salary range: $80,000.00 – $135,000.00, determined based on experience, education, and skill set.
