Senior Core Oracle DBA (RAC Environment, 19x, Exadata)Remote till the contract period Candidate will work as a Senior Core Oracle DBA (RAC Environment, 19x, Exadata) and support some SQL Server database as well. This is NOT a Oracle EBS/Apps DBA but a Senior Core DBA as the hiring manager put it.Hiring manager is seeking someone who can start as a contractor and convert to FTE, permanent resource after 6-12 months. They will sponsor VISA but the person will need to come onsite 1-2 days per week once converted to FTE.This person hired will support a Oracle 19c, Exadata, Goldengate, ODI environment which supports custom built applications used by the business/services team. Additionally this person will work as a SQL Server DBA for 15-20% of the time so experience with SQL Server is key to this hire.Location: Southborough, MassSummaryOracle Core Database Administrator (Oracle Core DBA) will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of critical Oracle Core RAC production environments utilizing GoldenGate, Data Guard, etc. The incumbent will be required to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our products and the Oracle DBA will assist the development and BA teams in architectural and solutions design. The Oracle Core DBA will be responsible for being effective in troubleshooting, recovery, database refinement, installing software, resolving errors and failures, auditing activities, and resource utilization in a collaborative manner to support the advancement of enterprise applications, development teams and business units.Essential FunctionsCoordinates and performs the installation and configuration of database management systems and application serversAssesses, manages and installs software patches to Oracle in the production and development environments.Makes recommendations on more efficient use; as it pertains to database performance.Installs and configures system and third party software packages.Monitors concurrent manager jobs and assesses performance related issues.Maintains the security and confidentiality of information accessible on managed systemsMonitors, manages and resolves incoming Service Desk tickets.Ensures that availability service level agreement (SLA) targets are met for production applicationsResponsible for OraclePatch Management and ConfigurationResponsible for Oracle User Access AdministrationConfigures and maintains data servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability and securityAnalyzes solves and corrects issues in real time, owning problem resolution beginning-to-endPerforms scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hoursAutomates and refines regular processes, track issues and document changesProvides trend and growth analysis to aid in capacity planning and resource managementApplies data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts in order to meet integration and performance expectationsParticipates in the software deployment process, assists in development where requiredActs as team lead on projects, assisting with development of project plans and task listsShares domain and technical expertiseQualifications• Excellent organizational skills• Excellent written and verbal skills• Detail oriented, ability to multitask and meet deadlines• Self-motivated, ability to work in a team and independently• Excellent project management skills• Strong written communication and document drafting skills• Strong Linux background• Strong development and scripting skill set• Ability to do complex queries and validate expected results in the database• Ability to lead others• Ability to troubleshoot problems• Ability to organize and prioritize work independently• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment• Ability to support Production Environments with Oracle and SQL Server• Ability to work within performance tuning, using tools for stress testing and building scalable systems• Ability to work with Web serversThe incumbent must be flexible as there may be workweeks that require more than 40 hours to ensure the positions expectations and responsibilities are metEducation and Experience• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience required• 7-10+ years of Database Administration and Oracle Database Administration experience• Experience with Oracle 12c, RAC, Dataguard, OEM, Exadata, Golden Gate is required and SQL Server is preferred• Experience with disaster recovery set-up and execution strongly preferred
