Lead Finance for a Fast-Growing, High-Volume Distribution Business

Our client, a rapidly growing wholesale and distribution company, is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function during an exciting period of expansion. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with ownership and executive leadership while helping to scale the accounting infrastructure of a high-volume business.

The ideal candidate will bring deep NetSuite expertise, experience supporting eCommerce and EDI-driven businesses, and a proven track record managing accounting operations within a distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, and financial statement preparation.
• Manage and mentor a team of 2 accounting professionals, with plans to hire and develop an additional 2 Staff Accountants.
• Drive process improvements and establish scalable accounting procedures to support company growth.
• Leverage NetSuite to improve reporting, automation, controls, and operational efficiency.
• Support a high-volume transaction environment with significant eCommerce activity.
• Partner with operations, sales, and leadership teams to improve business visibility and decision-making.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Analyze financial performance, margins, inventory, and operational KPIs.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Oversee relationships with auditors, banking partners, and outside advisors.

Required Experience

• Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience.
• Strong background in Wholesale Distribution.
• Deep NetSuite expertise beyond basic functionality.
• Experience supporting high-volume transaction environments.
• Proven leadership experience with team management and development.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and operational finance.
• Experience building processes and teams in growing organizations.
• eCommerce accounting experience.
• Experience with EDI platforms and retailer integrations.
• Shopify experience.
• Distribution businesses with significant online sales channels.
