Responsibilities:

• Accounting & Financial Close
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Shorten and stabilize the financial close timeline.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting timelines.

• Revenue Recognition & SaaS Metrics
• Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
• Review customer contracts and provide technical accounting guidance on non-standard transactions.
• Develop consistent reporting for recurring revenue, retention, gross margin, and other key SaaS financial metrics.

• Financial Reporting
• Prepare and present financial statements, analysis, and financial insights to senior leadership.
• Support board reporting and investor materials as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules.

• Team Leadership
• Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing accounting team.
• Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
• Provide strategic direction while remaining hands-on in day-to-day accounting operations.

• Systems & Process Improvement
• Optimize ERP and financial systems to support business growth and scalability, including NetSuite.
• Drive automation and process improvements across accounting workflows.
• Develop scalable accounting infrastructure and controls as the organization grows.

• Audit
• Lead the end-to-end annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
• Ensure timely preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and technical accounting memos.
• Establish and maintain audit-ready processes, documentation, and internal controls throughout the year.
• Address audit findings, implement recommendations, and continuously strengthen the control environment.
• Coordinate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate and complete audit support.

• Tax
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance, including income, sales/use, and other indirect taxes.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors while developing strong internal oversight and ownership.
• Evaluate tax nexus, sales tax exposure, and compliance requirements as the business expands.
• Support tax planning strategies and initiatives in partnership with external advisors and senior leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification highly preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience as an early or first finance hire in a startup or high-growth environment strongly preferred.
• Strong technical accounting foundation combined with the ability to operate strategically.
• Demonstrated ability to build structure and processes in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
• In-depth knowledge of revenue recognition principles and their application in SaaS accounting, including ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
• Experience analyzing customer contracts, pricing models, and billing structures within SaaS businesses.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly as they apply to SaaS and software businesses.
• Experience with ERP and financial systems, including NetSuite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a growing organization.
