Job Summary

We are hiring Behavior Technicians (BTs) to provide part-time, after-school ABA services in clients' homes in the Stony Brook area and surrounding communities .

This role is a good fit for candidates seeking consistent afternoon and early evening hours, generally between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM . Most team members can expect approximately 5–15 hours per week , depending on their availability, location, and current client needs.

Behavior Technicians provide direct, one-on-one support to children and adolescents while implementing individualized ABA treatment programs under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Certified Behavior Analyst Assistant (CBAA) .

In this role, BTs help learners build meaningful skills in areas such as functional communication, social interaction, independence, daily living, and behavior regulation. Team members are also responsible for following behavior-support procedures, collecting accurate treatment data, and completing required session documentation.

Prior ABA experience is preferred but is not required. Qualified candidates who are new to ABA will receive training and clinical support to prepare them for the role. We can also provide guidance to eligible candidates interested in completing the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification process .

Schedule

• Part-time position: Approximately 5–15 hours per week
• Consistent afternoon availability required , primarily between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
• Services are primarily provided in clients' homes after school
• Scheduling is based on candidate availability and available client cases
• Case availability may vary depending on geographic location and learner needs

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Individualized ABA Programming: Implement treatment protocols, skill-acquisition programs, and behavior intervention plans developed and supervised by a BCBA or CBAA.
• Provide One-on-One Services: Work directly with children and adolescents in their home environments to strengthen functional skills and address behaviors that interfere with learning, independence, or participation.
• Teach New Skills: Use individualized ABA teaching procedures such as Natural Environment Teaching (NET), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), reinforcement, prompting, and systematic prompt fading.
• Implement Behavior Supports: Follow prescribed antecedent interventions, replacement-skill programs, reinforcement systems, and behavior-reduction procedures safely and consistently.
• Collect Treatment Data: Accurately document learner responses, progress toward treatment goals, and target behaviors during sessions.
• Complete Required Documentation: Prepare session notes, progress documentation, incident reports, and other required clinical records accurately and within established deadlines.
• Participate in Supervision: Attend ongoing supervision and training and incorporate modeling, coaching, and performance feedback provided by a BCBA or CBAA.
• Communicate Professionally: Maintain appropriate communication with caregivers, supervisors, and other members of the treatment team while remaining within the Behavior Technician scope of practice.
• Promote Generalization: Help learners use newly acquired skills across different people, routines, activities, and natural home and community settings.
• Maintain Professional Standards: Protect learner confidentiality and dignity, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and follow agency policies and applicable ethical requirements.

Qualifications

• Certification: Current RBT certification is preferred but not required. Support is available for eligible candidates interested in becoming certified.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Previous experience working with children or individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral support needs is preferred but not required.
• Background Requirements: Candidates must be able to successfully complete all required background checks.
• Availability: Reliable and consistent availability during afternoon and early evening hours, primarily from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM .
• Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills; ability to follow detailed treatment procedures; and comfort using basic technology and collecting clinical data.
• Professional Qualities: Dependability, patience, professionalism, and an interest in helping children and adolescents develop greater independence and meaningful functional skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $25–$30 per hour, based on experience, location, and assignment
