POSITION DESCRIPTION 

 

POSITION TITLE: Security Officer Full Time (There are 3 shifts - you may be required to work any of the 3 shifts depending on business needs.)

REPORTS TO: Security Supervisor; Security Team Lead

 

SUPERVISES: N/A

 

EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Non- Exempt

 

LOCATION: On-site

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: 

 

Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities as well as interviewing witnesses. Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures. Provide security awareness for personnel. Assist in medical emergencies for crowd control and EMS access. Conduct routine rounds throughout the interior and exterior of the facility. When and/or if a situation presents itself contact 911 and act as a point of contact for the authorities to address the situation. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

• Always represent the Aquarium and its interests in a positive light 
• Security systems knowledge and good computer skills
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbal
• Radio/phone communication knowledge
• Requires sound judgement and decision making
• Rove grounds as schedule dictates and provide protection for building and parking areas
• Address issues with public/guests as they arise
• Bag checks as directed
• Responsible for general security functions as assigned
• Handle security situations in a professional manner
• Remain calm and polite in all situations
• Present a professional appearance, clean and groomed
• Additional duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

• High School Graduate / GED
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in security setting. Experience with theme park security protocols preferred.
• Law enforcement experience / Security guard / Military training required
• Security Class D License required
• Security / Computer systems experience
• Microsoft suite and email functionality
• Reliable transportation is a must

 

PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS: 

Possess the following attributes and abilities to:

• Lift up to 50lbs to waist level – Moderate Frequently.
• Lift up to 20lbs to shoulders and above head – Moderate Frequency
• Walk/stand for long periods of time - Frequently.
• Maneuver safely on uneven terrain or in tight spaces - Frequently.
• Safely climb ladders when needed – Moderate Frequency.
• Squat, bend, kneel, twist and reach – Moderate Frequently.
• Reach above the shoulders - Frequently.
• Push and pull larger equipment – Moderate Frequency.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt to changing weather – Frequently.
• Work indoors, under cover without air conditioning or heat – Frequently.
