Location:  Walnut Creek, CA

Salary Range: $195K-$250K

Full-Time, Onsite

We are actively seeking a Chief Estimator to join our client at the forefront of the paving and grading industry.  You will be joining a team of experts whose mission is to bring their clients’ vision to life through powerful work that lays the foundation for impactful projects across Northern California!

As the Chief Estimator, you will leverage your experience and make strategic decisions that enhance operations, mentor top talent, and contribute to award-winning projects. Your leadership will set the tone for high-quality estimates on large-scale heavy civil projects that leave a lasting impact.  Your proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive bids, and your strong understanding of heavy civil construction materials, methods, and costs, will be essential to maintaining our client’s reputation for excellence.

What You'll Do:

• Lead and refine best-in-class estimating processes to ensure competitive, high-quality bids.
• Mentor and manage a dynamic estimating team, cultivating a supportive and results-driven culture.
• Collaborate across departments to optimize efficiency and secure winning strategies.
• Own and manage the company's bid schedule, ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Oversee bid reviews, focusing on value engineering, cost analysis, and risk management.
• Drive recruitment, training, and retention efforts to build a high-performing team.
• Develop complete bid packages for complex heavy civil projects, including grading, paving, and underground work.
• Ensure full compliance with bid documents and submission timelines. 

Who We're Looking For:

• 10+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, business administration, architecture, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software (HCSS Heavy Bid, Agtek, Blue Beam, P6, Office 365 suite).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Valid US driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
