Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time senior litigation attorney licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of litigation experience, be comfortable independently managing matters, and have the ability to interact directly and professionally with business owners and other clients.

The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in the following areas:

1. Commercial litigation, particularly contract disputes between business owners and other commercial parties.
2. Business litigation, particularly disputes among owners of the same business.
3. Independently managing litigation matters from initiation through resolution.
4. Preparing, reviewing, and filing pleadings, motions, briefs, certifications, and other court submissions.
5. Handling court appearances, hearings, and oral arguments.
6. Managing discovery, including document discovery, written discovery, and depositions.
7. Conducting legal and factual research and developing litigation strategy based on the facts, applicable law, the client's objectives, and the risks involved.
8. Communicating directly and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties involved in a matter.
9. Drafting demand letters, responses to demands, settlement communications, and other correspondence with opposing parties and counsel.
10. Evaluating claims, defenses, potential exposure, available remedies, and the practical advantages and disadvantages of different litigation strategies.
11. Negotiating settlements and advising clients regarding negotiation, mediation, arbitration, litigation, and other potential methods of resolving a dispute.
12. Managing litigation deadlines, court rules, filings, and case responsibilities without requiring significant day-to-day supervision.

Experience handling matters in both state and federal court is strongly preferred. Federal court admissions in New York and New Jersey, or the ability to obtain appropriate federal court admissions, are also preferred.

Work Environment

This position allows the attorney to work remotely, and internal interactions with other team members will generally take place remotely.

However, this is an active litigation position. The attorney will be expected to appear in court frequently and must be available to attend:

• Other litigation-related proceedings

Candidates should therefore be comfortable balancing remote legal work with regular in-person litigation responsibilities and travel as required.
