Pretrial Assistant

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking a Pretrial Assistant to perform intermediate skilled administrative support work performing a variety of typing and clerical duties in support of Pretrial operations and programs, and related work as apparent or assigned. Essential Functions to include, but are not limited to: Receives, organizes, and coordinates court orders and various related documents; enters data into computer system; compiles and maintains a variety of records; ensures accuracy of data. Greets the public, speaks with pretrial clients, and answers incoming telephone calls; directs calls or inquiries to appropriate party for disposition; schedules appointments; provides a variety of program-based information and answers questions while conforming to privacy rules and within the scope of authority of the position. Creates, updates, and maintains filing system; sorts and files documents; archives and destroys documents according to established procedures for document retention management. Completes intake interviews records; completes documents, referrals, and transfers associated with referral. Completes monthly reports for monitoring clients; assists in generating monthly computer reports. Assists in preparing internal and external documents, records, and reports. Education / Experience: High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in office assistance work or equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements: Must be able to obtain Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certification within six months of hire. Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Applicant must pass a criminal background, Drug Test, DMV check and polygraph examination.
