Collections Specialist

Collections SpecialistThe Collections Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts while supporting accounts receivable and collections activities. This role focuses on reducing outstanding receivables, resolving payment issues, maintaining positive customer relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to improve collection performance and cash flow.Key ResponsibilitiesManage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts and prioritize collection activities.Analyze accounts receivable balances to identify trends, payment issues, and collection opportunities.Develop and execute weekly customer outreach plans.Document collection activities and provide status updates.Partner with internal departments to resolve account discrepancies and negotiate payment resolutions.Perform core Accounts Receivable functions, including:Account reconciliationsCredit holds and releasesCustomer statementsDunning activitiesBad debt recommendationsInvestigate and resolve customer disputes, including:Short paymentsChargebacksCredit memosPayment discrepanciesRespond to customer inquiries regarding account balances and payment status.Maintain accurate customer account records and documentation.Communicate professionally with internal departments and external customers.Work independently while contributing to team objectives.Required QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of Accounts Receivable experience.Working knowledge of Accounts Receivable processes, including:InvoicingAging reportsCash applicationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including data entry and formulas.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Preferred Qualifications1+ year of credit and collections experience.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Experience using JD Edwards (JDE) Accounts Receivable.Experience with Pivot Tables and Excel data analysis.Preferred SkillsAccounts ReceivableCollectionsCredit & CollectionsAccount ReconciliationCash ApplicationCustomer Account ManagementAging ReportsCredit HoldsCredit ReleasesChargebacksShort PaysCredit MemosPayment Dispute ResolutionBad Debt AnalysisJD Edwards (JDE)Microsoft ExcelCustomer ServiceNegotiationProblem SolvingCommunicationNesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
