About the unit CPCU (8NW) is a 68‑bed cardiac step‑down unit that provides an intermediate level of care to patients with cardiac diagnoses such as coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI), atrial fibrillation (A‑fib), and ventricular tachycardia (V‑Tach). The unit also provides pre‑ and post‑procedure care for patients who have undergone cardiac procedures, including catheterization/angioplasty, stents, ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator placement. Nurses receive specialized training in arterial sheath removal and Tikosyn administration and are ACLS certified. All patients are continuously monitored by telemetry. Scope of Work As a Registered Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, you will utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient‑family centered care principles. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell policies and procedures. Qualifications Associates or Diploma in Nursing from an ACEN accredited program, required. Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years for GN or RN with less than 1 year of experience. Graduates from a non‑accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health‑care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination. Registered Nurse (RN) license, required. American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS), required upon hire. Primary Location SITE – Royal Oak Hospital – 3601 W 13 Mile Rd – Royal Oak Employment Type Full time – Night shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), 36 hours per week. Days worked vary; weekend frequency every other weekend.
