Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room

Location

Lincoln, NE | Acute Care / Emergency Department

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Every 3rd weekend required | 2 holidays per year (1 winter, 1 summer)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department managing approximately 70–85 patients per day across adult and pediatric populations at a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio
• Manage a mixed patient population including abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, chest pain, sepsis, CVA rule-out, and fall-related injuries and trauma in a facility with 2 trauma bays
• Monitor cardiac telemetry for assigned patients via nurses' station displays and respond accordingly
• Perform nurse draws for approximately 95% of lab orders and complete EKGs in collaboration with ED Techs
• Manage ER holds for admitted patients intermixed within the ED alongside active emergency patients
• Float only within the pediatric ED as needed; no floating to inpatient units

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, and PALS
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department experience
• Proficiency or ability to quickly learn Epic EMR
• Must pass an open-book skills assessment with a score of 90% or higher during orientation; failure to pass may result to contract termination
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify distance
• Candidates may not be concurrently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; candidates must comply with this policy as a condition of the contract

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Experience working in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department environment
• Familiarity with trauma bay workflows and Level II or higher trauma center settings
