Manager, Programs
$70k - $90kCollab LLC
About CitySchools Collaborative CitySchools Collaborative partners with schools, tutoring providers, and public education systems to design, implement, and scale school‑based, research‑backed strategies that improve student outcomes. Through high‑impact tutoring, educator workforce initiatives, strategic staffing, and innovative tools like Sophia, our AI‑enabled tutor coach, we help schools strengthen teaching and learning while building stronger systems for the future. Position Overview Manager, Programs plays a key role in designing, implementing and continuously improving CitySchools Collaborative’s educator workforce and tutoring initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this role manages and scales CSC’s Tutor‑to‑Teacher (T2T) program, supports implementation across CSC partnerships, and translates lessons learned into stronger programs and outcomes for participants. Working closely with internal and external partners, the Manager, Programs cultivates relationships, manages projects, facilitates learning opportunities and reflects continuous improvement efforts that strengthen educator pathways and student outcomes. As a connector between talent, implementation, and design, this role brings strong project management, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to equity, helping CitySchools Collaborative—and its partners—reflect, improve and grow. The position is a full‑time, at‑will role based in DC, with a hybrid working environment that requires in‑person attendance at our DC office one day per week; infrequent travel may be required. Core Responsibilities Manage Talent Pathways to Strengthen DC’s Teacher Pipeline (45%) You will manage CSC’s Tutor‑to‑Teacher (T2T) program and related educator workforce initiatives, strengthening and continuously improving current programming while helping position the work for future growth. Working closely with the Chief Program Officer, you oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of the T2T program, ensuring participants receive a high‑quality experience and program goals are met. You cultivate and manage relationships with tutors, mentors, schools, universities, and other workforce partners, helping strengthen pathways into teaching and other school‑based roles. You also support efforts to expand CSC’s educator workforce strategy through new partnerships and opportunities across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. As an advocate for stronger tutor‑to‑teacher pipelines, you help identify opportunities to grow CSC’s impact through new partnerships, programming, and pathways, including credentialing, apprenticeships, and other workforce initiatives. As CSC’s educator workforce strategy evolves, you may take ownership of new workstreams, partnerships, or implementation efforts that advance CSC’s broader workforce goals. Strengthen Tutoring Partnerships and Program Implementation (30%) You support strong implementation across CSC’s tutoring partnerships by serving as the primary point of contact for a subset of tutoring providers, schools, and system partners. Through monthly check‑ins, implementation support, coaching, and problem‑solving, you help partners navigate challenges, strengthen practice, and maximize impact for students. You also support the design and facilitation of Communities of Practice and other learning opportunities that help partners learn from one another and strengthen implementation over time. Drawing on observations, feedback, and implementation data, you identify bright spots, surface opportunities for growth, and support partners in translating insights into action. You develop and share tools, resources, and best practices that are responsive to partner needs and grounded in the realities of implementation. Advance Program Innovation and Emerging Technologies (15%) You support CSC’s efforts to identify, pilot, and scale innovative approaches that strengthen participant experience, program implementation, and organizational learning. A key component of this work is supporting the implementation, scaling, and continuous improvement of Sophia, CSC’s AI‑enabled tutor coach, including onboarding users, gathering feedback, monitoring usage and impact, and translating lessons learned into future improvements. You work closely with program and strategy staff to identify opportunities to leverage technology, artificial intelligence, and other innovations to improve engagement and strengthen implementation. When possibilities arise, you contribute to the design, testing, and refinement of new ideas that advance our mission and impact. Learning, Innovation & Organizational Health (10%) Centering our organizational values of Possibility, Impact, and Partnership, we strive to protect the time and space for every team member to learn, grow professionally, and progress on their equity journey; innovate (ideate and stretch to try new strategies, approaches, responsibilities); and actively contribute to internal and organization‑wide work that supports each other, our culture, our systems, and our success. Qualifications and Competencies School‑Based Program Experience: Experience working in schools and/or managing programs that support students, educators, tutors, or school systems. Project Management: Ability to leverage strong organization and collaboration to successfully manage work to achieve intended impact. Relationship Building & Management: Ability to build trust and cultivate authentic relationships with tutors, mentors, providers, schools, and other partners. Skilled at managing partnerships and supporting stakeholders through challenges and change. Facilitation & Adult Learning: Experience designing and facilitating learning experiences for adults, including coaching conversations, communities of practice, trainings, and collaborative problem‑solving. Problem‑Solving: Ability to approach challenges with positivity and solutions‑orientation. Curious about root causes and motivated to translate insights into action. Innovation & Adaptability: Excited by new ideas, emerging technologies, and continuous learning. Demonstrates curiosity about artificial intelligence and other evolving tools, and thoughtfully explores how innovation can strengthen participant experience, program implementation, and organizational learning. Willing to embrace change, navigate ambiguity, and experiment in pursuit of stronger outcomes. Detail‑Orientation: Ability to toggle across multiple (and sometimes competing) workstreams and deadlines, as well as thoughtful work planning, execution, and reflection. Clear and Adaptive Communication: Skilled at communicating clearly across diverse audiences and adapting messages to meet stakeholder needs; confident facilitating group learning, coaching conversations, and partner engagement.
