This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare setting, have strong organizational skills, and are passionate about delivering outstanding patient service.Compensation: Hiring compensation range starts at $16.45/hour, based on education, experience, certification, and internal equity.Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; retirement plan with employer match; paid time off; tuition reimbursement; Career Pathways Program; paid parental leave; wellness incentives through Love Your Life; Employee-to-Employee (E2E) assistance program; and employee discounts to regional attractions.Linville, North Carolina offers breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain views, year-round outdoor recreation, a vibrant arts and dining scene, top-rated schools, and Appalachian State University.What You'll Do as a Lab CoordinatorLaboratory & Clinical SupportPerform laboratory-related duties to support patient care and clinic operations.Assist providers and clinical staff with patient care activities under appropriate supervision.Ensure accurate collection, processing, and handling of laboratory specimens.Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and laboratory procedures.Patient Care & ServicePromote a professional, patient-centered experience through courteous and compassionate interactions.Communicate effectively with patients regarding laboratory procedures and clinic processes.Support patient flow and assist in coordinating care activities within the clinic.Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards.Documentation & Administrative ResponsibilitiesAccurately document laboratory activities and patient information within electronic health record (EHR) systems.Maintain organized records and ensure accuracy in data entry and documentation.Support clinic operations through effective scheduling, coordination, and workflow management.Assist with inventory management and maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment.Collaboration & TeamworkWork collaboratively with providers, nurses, laboratory personnel, and administrative staff.Support UNC Health Appalachian's Mission, Vision, Values, and Standards of Behavior.Contribute to a positive, professional work environment focused on quality patient outcomes.Assist team members as needed to ensure efficient clinic operations.QualificationsMinimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED required.ExperiencePrevious healthcare or clinic experience preferred.Licensure & CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required at the time of hire.One of the following certifications is required at the time of hire:Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)Phlebotomy CertificationKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational and multitasking abilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.Basic knowledge of medical terminology.Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and computer applications.Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changing patient care needs.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday.Ability to lift, carry, push, and move medical equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and movement throughout the clinic.Manual dexterity required for specimen collection, laboratory procedures, and equipment operation.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, providers, and team members.Work EnvironmentPrimarily works in an indoor clinical environment.Regular interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and support staff.Frequent exposure to laboratory equipment, medical instruments, and clinical supplies.Adherence to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory protocols.May require occasional evening or weekend schedules based on operational needs.Fast-paced healthcare environment requiring flexibility, professionalism, and attention to detail.About UNC Health Appalachian UNC Health Appalachian, the leader for healthcare in the High Country, includes three hospitals, 13 medical practices, the Seby B.
