Personnel Specialist

This position is limited term for up to 12 months. It may be extended up to an additional 12 months or become permanent.
Under the general direction of the Supervisor I (Human Resources Director), the Personnel Specialist is responsible for the work associated with personnel record keeping, certification, payroll, personnel documents processing and related personnel transactions functions. In addition to technical personnel and payroll transactions, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining employee records, ensuring compliance with state laws, rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements, and providing customer service to visitors, employees, supervisors, and control agencies. Working ConditionsSubject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tuberculosis clearance.

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly.
